I don’t know, however check with your Philips XL490 specifications in your owners manual or on line. I purchased my batteries for a Panasonic cordless phone.

They work just perfectly in my Panasonic KX-TGMA4S.

at first, these batteries did not work, the charger kept saying “insert battery” So I scrapped off the tiny tiny clear plastic rim around the battery bottom with a razor knife. Then re-inserted the batteries and they worked fine. Four charging stations and four phones now work fine. Note—You have to look very close to see this clear circular rim on the bottom. It doesn’t cover the entire bottom, just the very edge. Works fine now.

We have a Panasonic home phone which is probably 7-8 years old. Batteries were finally giving out. This was a quick and effective fix to keep them working well. I went with Panasonic again based on the long life of the original batteries. Happy so far (3 months in)
