The mount has two machine screws which hold together the two halves of the mount, spaced to match the bike water bottle holders. If your trailer has an identical pair of machine thread lugs, then yes, but I would not expect that to be the case. Do you think it matters which way it faces out? The "stronger" side (if there is one) should face away from the bike’s metal frame.

It could be installed either way!

How long does the charge last?

The bike mount does not include the AirTag. You buy that separately from Apple. The AirTag has a 2032 battery. It can not be charged. You replace the 2032 battery said to last about a year.

How is the detection range for the airtag affected when placed in this mount?

While I don’t have direct measurements, I can say it works for me. The bike in the garage is over 50 ft from my wifi router and any phone and it reports its location. The plastic mount likely won’t cause a loss of signal, but other metal items close by may.

Anyone try this with a folding bike lock mount instead of a water bottle cage?

This should work under the folding bike lock!

Worked as described

Was easy to install and is not conspicuous. Air Tracker likely would not be discovered quickly by thief if bike is stolen. I installed under water bottle cage and air pump holder, which worked with long machine screws included. Hope I never need to use air tracker for this purpose, but some added security.

Easy to Install and Well Hidden!

Installed between water bottle cage and frame. Barely visible without a hard look. Testing underway. Someone (not me) did a reverse engineering “tear down”. Since the antennas are on the edge and the curved shiny side with the Apple logo, it would probably be best to install it with that side facing out so the main antenna is not facing the metal frame and perhaps blocking the signal. (see pic)

This is a great inconspicuous little shell for my sons bike, after his last bike was stolen out of the yard this was a must have.
