Info About Amazon Basics 8K DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 Cable with [email protected], [email protected] Video Resolution, and HDR Support, 6 Feet (Reviews From Amazon)
It’s a cable and does what it’s supposed to do. However if you have any desire to have clean cable management look elsewhere. It’s roughly the size of a garden hose, no no a serpentine belt for a Ford F-150. Oh wait no a rope to tie your boat to the dock. Or maybe to hold up a hammock. Yea that’s it. This thing is thick enough to hold up a hammock. If that’s what you are looking for then hit buy now.
This review is for Amazon Basics 8K DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 cable in 10 foot length. I purchased three of these cables to use in my multi-monitor setup with Gigabyite AORUS FI25F monitors on a multi-monitor stand. I purchased these cables, because I was looking for something in the 9′-10′ length range that was DisplayPort version 1.4, was black in color, and did not have the DisplayPort connector latches. I was also looking to get something plain that was hopefully flexible. Unfortunately this cable is not very flexible. I was surprised by how bulky the cable itself was. It had a thicker diameter than that some DisplayPort cables I have that have a fabric sheathing over the cable. And even though overall plug length is short on this cable, it still needs more room than my other DisplayPort cables I have because of how inflexible it is. Overall the AmazonBasics cable is decent, but because of the bulk and inflexibility I couldn’t really do any cable management for my multi-monitor setup. I will say the placement of the connections on my monitor is increasing the cable management challenge, because the cable receptacles face straight down and are close to the bottom of the monitor. So I either need very flexible video and power cords, or I need to use 90 degree connectors. All-in-all this cable is a decent cable, will work for the vast majority of setups, and is great value for the price, but if you need something that is very flexible and not bulky you will need to find a different cable.
The picture does not show how thick and sturdy this cable is when you receive it. It does “feel” like it will do the job and it does without any issues. Just an FYI, it does not come with the latch, but it isn’t necessary just a nice to have option. Overall a great purchase.
I needed a longer cable for my desk set up, these were a good value. Keep in mind that these cables are thick, It made for a tight fit in the cable channels of my monitor mount but they did fit. No issues with the performance of the cables, overall great value.
Cord feels very strong and it locks into dp input tight and secure. It’s also easy to take out if you need to take the cable out for any reason. I own another dp cable which is too short that is 5 feet and that one has an annoying lock mechinism built into it where you have to press on it to get it to release. The problem with that dp cable other than being too short for me is the fact that the button is usually facing the wrong direction so I can fit my fingers to press it. This Amazon dp cable does not have that dumb feature and it’s also 6 feet and it feels like it was built very well. Also I seen some reviews claiming the cable is too thick. I don’t know what they’re talking about because the cable on the 6 feet Amazon Basics is not too thick and not too small. It feels just right. I use this on a 4k 60hz monitor so I can’t tell you how well it runs at 120hz at 4k and I don’t own a 8k monitor. I paid a little under 9 dollars for it at the time of this review. I feel like it was a pretty good price. It doesn’t feel like a cheap cable to me just a great price overall.
We have a lot of computers (7) and monitors (14) and after years of buying the “best” we decided a few years ago to give the “off brand” or “economy” products a try. Well, we’ve been pleasantly surprised! This cable works just fine. The signal transmission is strong and true. So don’t pay more for overpriced stuff.
The 6ft DisplayPort cables have worked great for my 1080p 144hz and 1080p 75Hz monitors. I haven’t noticed any sort of disconnects, interference, or dropouts since installation. Dead simple installation.
The cables do not have the retention clip other cables have which is fine for monitors that never move, but keep that in mind if you move your monitors a lot on a stand or wall mount.
cable is of solid build. connecters fit just snug enough not too tight or loose. using with a LG 29″ widescreen monitor on work desk computer with 2nd screen because one key piece of software I must used does not support the widescreen format. have both screens connected via display port.
Fixed the problem with other cable types such as HDMI to DP. At least I didn’t have to toss out my monitor. Setting up a new laptop with usb-C connections. luckly the adapter I got had both DP and HDMI connections. One of the old monitors only had DP output but didn’t work with the HDMI to DP cables I tried.
I have a Samsung CRG9 monitor and it has two display ports and HDMI inputs. I needed another DP for my second PC and this does the job. The 8K monitor is overkill since my monitor is technically a 2K screen but I love the quality of the cable. It’s a little chunky but it feels like it will hold up.
