Facts About Amazon Basics Coiled Cable Lightning Car Charger, 1.5 Foot, Black
No. Is not. Apple and Android use completely different cable ends. This is for Apple products only.
I use it only in the front seat, but because it’s heavy duty cord and tightly coiled, I can’t see it stretching to the back seat. Works like a charm so far… m.
I always just leave my charger plugged in. Even more so now than ever with my Wireless Car Charger. I just set it in its mount, it auto grabs the phone and starts charging. It would kind of defeat the purpose if I was plugging in and out every time. No thanks!!! If you have a really weak battery, or your car sits… I always just leave my charger plugged in. Even more so now than ever with my Wireless Car Charger. I just set it in its mount, it auto grabs the phone and starts charging. It would kind of defeat the purpose if I was plugging in and out every time. No thanks!!! If you have a really weak battery, or your car sits for days on end, anything plugged in like this would very slowly drain your battery. But if your car is sitting around that much, it should have a trickle charger on it anyway to keep your battery topped off and make it last much longer anyway. If your car is going to sit more than a few days, OK pull it out enough to not drain the battery at all. But if it’s not actually charging anything, it’s not using much power to worry about.
It depends on the phone. This has a lightning connector which means only iPhones!!! Android phones can either use MicroUSB or USB-C these days. USB-C is much newer. This cable will not work with any Android phone.
I have the black one and it is coiled
I’m not sure, but I can tell you that the plug in part that goes to your phone/nano works for iPhone 5 and up. It’s the newer plug that is the same shape all on both sides. If your nano has the shape like a letter “D”, then this won’t work.
Not sure, lightning end works great on my iPhone 10xr
Pretty dramatic claim about fire hazard. Can you supply more info for making a judgement.
for me it does not work. the plug should be compatible, but it just does not work.
If your phone has a lightning connector, this will work, I would recommend the straight cord over the coiled.
It already is available
Dear Sir,
No, it won’t. Echo has its own power cord.
DO NOT BUY THIS CHARGER. ITS A PIECE OF GARBAGE.
I have the iPhone SE (purchased December, 2020) and this charger works fine with it.
I know it didn’t wrk and you have to call Amazon customer service, the ups can come to your location if eligible
Info About Amazon Basics Coiled Cable Lightning Car Charger, 1.5 Foot, Black (Reviews From Amazon)
This is the perfect size for my car. I’m not using the cord for others to charge and use the phone at the same time, so I don’t need a big reach. While I currently don’t have any type of dashboard mount, the cord does have enough give to reach my dashboard without having a super loan cord getting in the way of controls or navigation. I tend to plug my phone in and leave it in the console out of reach (safety first!) I have a 40-minute daily commute and was able to charge my iPhone 8 to 100% from 30% during that time.
Update: I went back in and timed my actual charge rate. I went from 32% to 80% in 45 minutes-and that’s while using it to stream audio. So not quite 100% but I wanted to give an accurate review. Still think it’s a great cord and worth the price.
This charger fills your battery up quick. I’ve only had it for a about two weeks, but it seems to be made well. I’d say it’ll hold up well like other Amazon Basics items. 5/5 good charger.
Does what it is supposed to. Can’t be the cost, quality seems great. I use this to charge my phone while waiting for my kids to come out of school. This product can be a life saver! Would reccomend to all iOS owners.

I purchased this 5-pack of iPhone car charges when our last one (from a reputable brand company) became unreliable and stopped working. So far, the AmazonBasics charger has held up well and no issues whatsoever. It has a simple but effective design — a coiled cable allows prevents unnecessary tangle allows it to be stored easily when not in use. The charging end is a permanent “Lightning” port for use with Apple devices. The charging rate is comparable to other 12V DC chargers.
The only negative is the fact that the Lightning plug is not reinforced where it meets the cable. It is likely this will be the failure point after repetitive plugging/unplugging. However, the price is great…and I have 4 back-up chargers when the first one fails! Therefore, it is still a 5-star product.
I’ve only had this a few weeks but so far it works great! Some people might think the cord is too short but it perfect for me in my car. I like that I don’t have cords everywhere and it’s long enough to reach where I put my phone.
This also charges the phone super quickly!!! Way faster than my wall charger.
I purchased the coiled black cord so I can use it on my adventure motorcycle. This way the cord can absorb the shock of the trails and also not be so long that I have to wrap it around the handlebars or something. I found that the part that goes into the socket is quite solid. No way to unscrew it. It is sealed since this is not a power cord, it does not need a fuse to be replaced. I think this item is worth every penny. Well packaged and backed by Amazon, as their logo is imprinted on the socket end.
It worked flawlessly during a 2 week trip to Florida, keeping my iPhone powered while using the phone’s GPS to navigate. It’s just the right length w/o getting in the way if your going leave it plugged in for an extended period. I highly recommend this product.
This charger is perfect for small or concealable outlets in your vehicle. I really like it because compared to some that I’ve had in the past. This one takes up almost no space and the cord is the perfect length for my application. I was expecting something that was lesser quality. So far this one is great.
My wife has been driving around for years with a tiny little iPhone car charger that might fit a Tonka truck but is way too short for a Chevy Impala.
Recently, she declared ‘I’ve had enough!’, which when translated means ‘Husband, fix this!’
So now she owns a three-foot AmazonBasics car charger. Happiness has returned. After her saga of tugging at the old charger’s loops—we call them by their technical name, ‘curlie wurlies’—she finds having a straight chord so much more sensible. I mean, what are those curlie wurlies even for?
Don’t buy the 1.5-foot version unless you too mistake your vehicle for a Tonka truck. Instead, opt for the three-foot version. It will lie flat and not get in your way, I promise you. It lacks curlie wurlies. You’ll like it.
Excellent design, end to end. A key aspect of any charging device is strain relief – reinforcement where cable meets the two adapting ends – and this device knocks it out of the park on both. The DC adapter has a strong double heat shrunk relief to assumingly guard against people yanking it from the socket, and the lightning adapter has a nice plasticized connector. Better than the Apple accessory equivalent.
