Getting ‘App is damaged and can’t be opened’ in macOS Ventura? You’ve recently updated to macOS 13 and some apps fail to open? You’re suggested to move the app to Trash? Click Cancel and proceed as follows!

App Is Damaged And Can’t Be Opened Error

This problem has been reported by Gary:

“I get app damaged error can not be opened in macOS Ventura. any way to fix it?”

We’ve found a similar complaint on Reddit:

“…receiving a message saying your app is damaged and can not be opened in MacOS Ventura.”

How To Fix App Is Damaged Error

A fix is provided in the thread mentioned above:

  • Open System Settings on your Mac.
  • Click on Privacy and Security and open Developer Tools.
  • Use the + icon and the app or the apps that fail to open.
  • Fact: This should be a temporary fix though as the Developer Tools allow apps that don’t meet the system’s security policy to run locally.

For a permanent fix please check the Mac App Store for app updates that should bring full support for the software in question for macOS Ventura.
