no, there is no sticky film on the suction cup itself…. its just a suction cup, so it wont harm your windshield. There is a sticky film on the flat dashboard mounting accessory that you need to use if you mount to the dashboard but not on the suction cup itself.

I have never used that sticky tape thing…but what I suggest is pull on the clip at the bottom to help reduce the suction then put a little arm strength and pull. That’s how I removed it from one section of my windshield to another part.

The mount where the phone is positioned has several positions to either go up or down, depending on your preference. To answer your question, yes you can mount on your sunroof and angle it towards the windshield. Depending on how much of the forward-view you want to capture, the angle may or may not meet your specific needs.

When I’m driving, there is some small shaking, but not very much at all. There are several ways to adjust and tighten the arms and pivots to get it just where you want.

If you attaching to a window it should work with out attaching the black permanent base. Just use the suction cup to the window. But I can’t 100% say it will support a big phone as I don’t use it that way.

It holds very well I’ve had it for a long time and it doesn’t vibrate with your phone in it while driving

Last year I tried the RAM mount 1″ ball system. The first lasted six months, they replaced it and that lasted six months. Then I tried the other simpler style and that only lasted 4 months. Every time I see a brand I haven’t tried in a store (and it is on sale/clearance) I grab one and try it. I even have an entire box full of them in my garage.

THIS ONE is by far the best. When you unlock the button the phone stays in place. It doesn’t rattle. The mount is VERY sticky. It was hard to remove when I wanted it to come off. I live in the NE where the weather in the car can go from 70 to 0F. I’m going to buy more of these, one for each car, a backup, and gift them to people!

Was a great phone mount till recently it just melted off completely. Lasted a year which is really good and it never detached till today.

So far so good. We’ve had some hot days and I didn’t get in the car to find my phone holder on the floor, or have it fall off while driving :/. Honestly, the suction lock down is the key. My previous holders had great sticky surface. But, you really need that suction lock to make it stay. So happy with this, hands free streaming and it’s at an eye level if I’m following and listening to Waze mapping systems on a trip.

I got this phone holder two weeks ago and so far it’s been great. I had a little trouble getting it to stick, but that’s only because of my dash. I have an older model Jeep Liberty and the dash is split right where I needed it to stick. Once I got the placement right, it stuck really well. It fits my iPhone XR with an Otterbox Defender Pro just fine. I definitely recommend it!

We bought a couple of others because we had tthe first one stolen. Paid more for a few, paid less for a few.

All of them were failures! All of them, at least by comparison. None of them gripped my devices well, none of them had angled holders, half would lose their ability to adhere and pop off suddenly.

So, now I’ve boyght a couple of more, and will be buying another 3 fpr other rooms of my house like my computer desk, by my toilet, in my other shower, in the kitchen, in my lab and workroom.

Don’t waste money on other phone holders.

My truck has a windshield that isn’t particularly broad, so visual area is at a premium. I decided that the best place for a phone holder was on the left side in a small area. I needed a holder that was versatile but also able to hold the weight of the phone with the arm extended outwards. The suction cup on this had a plastic film over it protecting the surface area. There seemed like a little tacky adhesive on in and when I placed it where I wanted, it stuck excellent without even depressing the suction lever. Its solid on the windshield! Once I positioned it where I wanted, I tightened the knuckles down and it stayed firm in place.

What I loved most about this holder was that the lower portion of the cradle was slightly hooked so even when you didn’t have the outer arms tightened on the phone, it would still hold the phone in place. I also LOVE the fact that release button on the back has a nice smooth release. It doesn’t snap away from your device like a rubber band but is very fluidic. When you release the button, it stops immediately.

This holder turned out to meet my expectations and exceed them! I highly recommend it not only for the value but also for the quality!

I have tried lots of phone holders that attach to the windshield or top of dash. This is BY FAR the best one. In fact, I bought two of them. I keep one in my truck an keep the other in my travel suitcase to use in rental cars when i travel. Best features are (1) it stays put, and (2) it has lots of adjustment. Only small nits are (1) the horizontal “squeezer” tabs don’t quite squeeze hard enough – the phone “ejected” onto the floor of the truck a few times when I hit potholes, and (2) once it is on, it is ON! Flipping the release button doesn’t eject it. I use a plastic body mechanics tool to pry it and then pull the tab. But I only need that for rental cars (don’t forget to pack the tool also!) The one in the truck stays there. Buy one!

So I loved this car mount and I would have continued to like it but alas I live in Arizona and the gel pad melted. Am I surprised? No, but it is unfortunate. It wouldn’t have been an issue, because it is still sticking onto the window, but the more it melts, the holder turns in an odd way and can not longer be adjusted. Now that I am going to have to get a new one, I thought I would write a review.

Overall I love this thing, it made filming myself in the car so much easier lol. But since I mounted it on the window, during the summer my phone would get really hot and start lagging. If I lived in a cooler place I believe it would have lasted me a lot longer, but I would still give it 5 stars because of the functionality of it and how well it held up my iPhone XR.

Also I did try to use the dash pad it came with to just replace the gel pad, but it did not work bc it would not adhere to the old melted pad. By the way the stuff is super super sticky, they did not mess around with the adhesive.

I ordered three different kind phone mounts. I tested them all. I don’t like A. The car button mount is pretty slow compare to B and C. C has the fastest response button mount. B is decent in middle between of A and C.

I love how C phone mount design. It’s pretty cool. When you place a phone on mount, it will close. To release your phone, you will need to push two buttons (look at the their picture). It’s pretty easy.

If you want a reasonable price and good quality, I’d go with B. If you don’t mind buy extra cost, go with C.

I loved my previous phone holder but after nearly 5 years in the Texas sun the sticky suction melted and I had to find a replacement. I’m satisfied with this item for that purpose.
