Facts About Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy Skin Protectant, Dry Skin and Diaper Rash Ointment, 14 Oz Jar

can adults use this also?

Adults can use this, but just FYI this is not the same as the “adult” Aquaphor Healing Ointment. There are a couple additional ingredients in this baby version to specifically help diaper rash.

We love aquaphor for our baby but have never used the tub version, just the squeeze tubes. Do you dip your finger into this? Bacteria?

I don’t have this product, but I have a tub of Cera Ve. I buy a smaller container (like a tiny travel sized jar for cosmetics) and use a silicone applicator “brush” to put some in the tiny travel jar. I never stick my fingers in my bigger original jar. That way I’m only contaminating a little bit that I know will be us… I don’t have this product, but I have a tub of Cera Ve. I plan to buy some aquaphor for my son who gets chapped cheeks and chin. I will plan on
Using the little jars so they’re easier to travel with and keep us from contaminating the full jar.

I seem to get outbreaks of eczema on my legs and sometimes, my arms. Will this get rid of the ugly red spots?

Placing ice cubes (wrapped in a towel) on the affected area is one of the best and easiest ways to relieve eczema itching and burning sensation. Moreover, the water trickling from ice hydrates the skin. Application of extra-virgin coconut oil can prove highly beneficial in getting rid of eczema because it has natural moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, it maintains the natural chemical balance of the skin and forms an antimicrobial barrier on skin. It is best to apply coconut oil after taking your bath or shower. Besides, you may apply a bandage dipped in warm coconut oil.
Applying pure aloe vera gel, too, is useful in soothing and curing eczema rashes.
When dealing with chronic eczema worsened with Staph infection, you can take a dilute bleach bath. For this, you need to add a quarter to half a cup of bleach in a tub filled with lukewarm water. You can use regular chlorine bleach for this purpose. Just soak in the solution for about 10 minutes, at most twice a week.
If you are looking for a natural alternative, then take an oatmeal bath. You can create this bath either by using pure colloidal oatmeal or grinding rolled oats/quick oats in a coffee grinder.Just mix a cup of oatmeal in a tub filled with warm water (make sure you break the clumps at the bottom) and soak in this soothing bath for about 15-20 minutes. You can take this bath once or twice daily.
Burdock root contains a several medicinal properties. Hence, it is considered good for healing a number of skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, carbuncles, ulcers, etc. You can drink burdock tea and apply a paste or salve prepared by grinding this herb.
Steroid creams are useful for reducing itching and inflammation. Thus, you can put a thin layer of some corticosteroid cream or ointment on the affected area.To make this treatment more effective, apply an emollient on skin about 15 minutes before applying the steroid cream. Follow this remedy once or twice daily.Interestingly, topical chamomile creams also work as mild steroid creams. If nothing else works, your doctor may prescribe topical immunosuppressants or other medications.
Phototherapy or ultraviolet light treatment is considered helpful in the treatment of eczema for mild to moderate atopic dermatitis. It is usually performed at hospitals under the supervision of a dermatologist. This treatment is mostly undertaken when the condition becomes widespread and does not respond to any medications.

I have used baby oil and vaseline has a product for babies I think; I just consider it to be gentle enough for a baby’s skin (that’s how I interpret that). It makes the skin soft and moisturizes it a little too. I had a friend recommend it and I would definitely purchase it again. Hope that helps! 🙂

Info About Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy Skin Protectant, Dry Skin and Diaper Rash Ointment, 14 Oz Jar (Reviews From Amazon)

Dry Skin/Eczema CURED!!!

This is the best possible stuff to use on gentle baby skin. My little one screamed every time I tried every other lotion- this fixes EVERYTHING!!! She started to get some dry spots and mild eczema and after putting this on every night, it was better in a matter of days and completely gone in a few weeks!!! It’s now the go-to product in our house!

Amazon, check your sourcing for this product

Edit: we have continued to use Aquaphor from Amazon, and aside from the one weird jar that we got a while ago, it’s been great. Prevents bum rash like a dream when applied liberally with every diaper change 👍

Amazon needs to double check their sourcing. The first time I ordered this, it was awesome. It’s so great for preventative skin care. I use it at almost every diaper change and my baby has literally NEVER had a diaper rash. However, second time I ordered this product from Amazon, I got a tub of what looked a lot more like Vasaline than Aquaphor. I know the two products are pretty similar, but I’m disappointed 🙁 Maybe Aquaphor had a bad batch or changed it’s processing or something, but Amazon’s sourcing is the more likely culprit.

Mommie approved

Before my baby I used to enjoy writing reviews but with the 5 month old I can’t find time – plus I’d rather take a 4 minutes nap. However, whenever I stumble upon super awesome baby product or terribly bad one I feel moral duty to share with my fellow moms and dads who are struggling searching for the best for their baby.
So here is my humble contribution

Before using Aquaphor we used butt paste, for 4 months to be exact. I was going with regular strength for daily use and then whenever rash would come up I would switch to extra strength butt paste. I would also apply some witch hazel, and try to rinse my baby bottom in the sink – like every diaper change – I know that’s just ridiculous. But the rash would go away and then I would go back using regular strength butt paste, after few days repeat the cycle cause rash would come back. Even if using only extra strength kind rash would still go on and off and warm water treatment was the only solution. So I started to think OK I guess diaper rash is a must, it just comes with the baby? And then….Aquaphor !! No rash whatsoever. 3 weeks straight no rash. Then just to test it out I switched to butt paste…what was I thinking? After 4 days my little one got a rash. I applied Aquaphor that night, the very next morning rash was almost gone. I mean, it’s just no brainer for me. I also love that this ointment is clear, it doesn’t leave white marks everywhere like the butt paste. I mean, all our changing pads got stained when using extra strength- so thick it cannot be washed. Also, Amazon the BEST price for Aquaphor. If you buy it with subscribe and save the price is even better. TOUCHDOWN!!! You can stop searching, use next five minutes to get a nap instead. You’re welcome 🙂

Best diaper ointment I have found!!

So after trying Desitin (noooo, smells like fish), A&D ointment (never again) and burts bees diaper cream (eeeh ok) , this stuff produced miracles!! My baby doesn’t get bad diaper rash, but it was hard to find a cream that wouldn’t make slight redness worse!
Then I found this ointment!! It has a Vaseline vibe, goes on easy, wipes off easy, has great protection for my babe’s skin, and no adverse reactions!! Love this stuff!! Also great for drool rash for a teething baby. It has cleared up my little ones skin in less than a day!! Highly recommend!!

A cure for everything

Living in the desert in the winter means see really dry chapped skin for me and the kids. I’ve had this one jar for about 6 months and we use it daily. My kids both have severe eczema. I put this on their breakouts and within a couple days , it’s cured. My oldest gets very dry cracked hands from all the hand washing at school. I started keeping a little bit in a container for him to put on at school and his hands are back to normal and no longer hurting. I will put this on my feet with socks on at bed and my feet are instantly more moisturized in one night. This ointment works miracles.

Adult Use for Hydrating, Healing, Chub rub magician.

So close to 5 stars. This product is AMAZING! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because I don’t love the slightly greasy texture and finish (it is not a lotion. Almost same texture as Vaseline). However, it is hands down the most hydrating and healing product I have ever used for my skin surpassing dermatologist prescribed healing ointments and steroids. My skin was WRECKED! For over 2 years I taught swim lessons for 20 hours a week in combination salt water/chlorine pool. I finally had to quit when a new prescription caused me to experience contact dermatitis every time I went in the water. The damage was extensive. Within days of using this product my dried, scaly, cracked and bleeding skin was healing. My arm hair started growing back within a week. My cuticles stopped peeling back from the nails. And the most unanticipated additional use is phenomenal as a chub-rub protector and healer.
Since the weather is getting nicer, I’ve been hiking anywhere from 2-5 miles a day. Unfortunately on this past Monday eve, I wore the wrong leggings and experienced a terrible case of chub rub. It finally occurred to me last night after 3 days of suffering that I could use this close to my privates because it’s usually used for diaper rash and on babies sensitive skin. This morning when I woke up pain-free and to much smoother skin. Also, a little goes a long way. I’ll update in the future when I run out but I imagine that’s going to be some point next year.

Great for a skincare addict

I love this stuff! It’s my last step (occlusive step) after my nighttime skincare routine. It locks in moisture, soothes, protects. It heals chapped lips overnight. Dryness doesn’t stand a chance! It heals blemishes SUPER fast, once they are flat I will apply a big blob to it overnight, and it keeps the wound soft, scab free, and redness is reduced by a lot by the next AM. This jar also lasts a REALLY long time. I actually only bought a new one because I had dropped mine a while ago and it cracked on the bottom. I taped it up with some clear tape, but once I get close to the bottom I will open my fresh jar, so I don’t risk putting contaminated ointment on my face 😛

Life Saver

My baby had a severe diaper rash after released from the NICU. The nirses tried everything. Every ointment available, changed my baby’s diapey, some films that stuck on his little bottom to act as a barrier. Nothing worked.
We cured my baby’s severe rash by washing his bottom every time we changed his diaper. Every hour or so. We put corn starch every time (Maizena found in the mexican products) This dried his fissures. Then, I tried Aquaphor. Within 6 hours, my baby’s bottom was significantly better and within 3 days, he healed. It was a miracle. I know it was the Aquaphor because he had this rash for 4 weeks! We now rinse his bottom every time and if he poops, I wash it with baby wash. My bany is now 3 months old and never has had another rash! It was hard work, but saved on wipes too.

Our Everyday Essential

I use this after every diaper change on baby’s bum and folds, not just when there’s a rash. I think because I’ve used it every day, we haven’t encountered a rash yet. It’s not as sticky as I was expecting it to be so that’s always a plus. I sanitize my hands afterward so whatever stickiness there is on my hands, goes away. I also apply a layer just below baby’s waist – from the tummy to where the diaper tabs are.

I’ve attached a picture so you can see the texture of the product. It’s also great to use on baby’s cuts/bruises (thanks to their mad-sharp fingernails).

I haven’t had the need to use any other product so yay!

Helped cradle cap

I use this for everything. My LO has dry skin in certain places and regular lotion wasn’t helping. Since it is greasy I just use a very very small amount and rub it on problem areas. Since he has hardly any hair I tried this on his scalp to see if it would help with cradle cap, and it has done wonders. I put just a very little amount (less than a pea size for his whole head) on his cradle cap and then brush it with a brush and it is keeping it under control very nicely. I also use it often on his forehead, which was a little dry and would get irritated when he rubs it on us when he is tired – now his forehead looks great (although I keep using it because if I stop it gets dry again). This tub will probably last me a few years because a little goes a long way.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment protects baby’s delicate skin from the harsh elements, combining a healing lotion with lanolin and skin protectant. The skin protectant is hypoallergenic and water resistant, so it won’t wash away during baths and showers. The lotion locks in moisture to keep baby’s skin hydrated and comfortable.
