Product Description
When you picture a baby’s first music class, what do you imagine? One main thought crosses most people’s minds: learning instruments. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Baby Einstein’s Baby’s First Music Teacher kit teaches babies through music with a developmental curriculum, and the colorful interactive toys foster your baby’s imagination. This music class kit comes with the Baby’s First Music Teacher book, a developmental toy (a musical caterpillar that sings and moves, for example), and three instruments—a tambourine, a xylophone, and a musical ball.

It doesn’t play the entire song, as most of these are very long songs if played in their entirety, but it plays a pretty full rendition of the theme of each piece, probably about 45 seconds or so. It varies from piece to piece. It plays much longer sections than any other classical music toy we have.

Because it is classical music I did not find it annoying, but on a plane I think others around you would be able to hear it. But now that I think of it, planes are kind of loud because of the jet engines, so I think it might be perfect.

I think this would be great for a 17 month old! My daughter loved it at that age and beyond.
Thanks for reaching out, the piano uses (3) AA batteries
Good product…grandchild use to play with it a lot and now I keep it in car due to we have multiple music toys. Started using it around 6 months and now almost 2.

The media could not be loaded. Such a cute toy- perfect for my music loving little nephew. It’s light, easy for little hands to hold, and has a sturdy feel to it. Parents will appreciate that there is a volume control as well. I can’t wait to give it to him tomorrow!
The video I took shows how the beads on the handle move, and demonstrates some of the different tunes.
The media could not be loaded. I bought this for my grandson when he was an infant. Small enough, easy to hold. He’s now 4 years old and still likes it!
Just amazing. Daughter won’t stop staring at it when lights and music are on. She enjoys it so much. It saved us from so many hours or crying and fuzziness, specially in the so-much-hated car seat. And we thought at first that it wouldn’t be so good! It has nice songs too and even my wife and I like it. I think the key to entertain our baby was that the lights are synchronized with the music.
I got this to replace one that we have had for over 2 years. It was the ONLY thing that a fussy baby soothed him with the tunes. He was only 1 or 2 months old and I would hold it and he would stop crying and fussing. Soothing melody help this Grandmother too! When you are taking care of a new baby ANYTHING that helps is worth it! I could n’t believe how it helped the music wasn’t silly very beautiful and soothed everyone!!! M:e too!
The older brother loved it too! He was 3 and he liked being able to help with pushing the buttons and bringing it to whoever needed it. The baby is now 13 months old and still enjoys it and it doesn’t get on our nerves like so many of the noisy tunes that come with so many of the toys. I recommend this for a shower gift to new parents of first babies. It is very well made and has been through the wringer and still works!!! A very good product!
My first purchase was 8 years ago. She LOVED it as did parents. Quality sound, volume settings, teaches cause & affect. Parents went through 2 battery changes in 4+ years… then given to friend. Second purchase, 5 years ago. It had to go everywhere she went for at least 3 years, maybe more. Third purchase 1 year ago to grandchild of classical musician parents; he loves it, they love it…the music box seems indestructible.
This was one of the first toys our son showed interest in as an infant. He is now 18 mo old and still plays with it… now, he presses the button and dances along with the music. It’s also very convenient because you can bring it into the car and it entertains kids on car rides, even at night because it lights up to the music.
Update: We are on child #2 and this toy is still going strong after 2.5 years (although the sticker is finally wearing off). Our second child is 4 months old and we use it in the car to calm him when he is crying. He likes the music and the colorful lights.
When I nannied 6 years ago, this was the baby’s favorite toy. It always made her stop crying. So when I was expecting my own baby, I remembered this toy and knew I needed one. Sure enough, my 4-month-old loves it. He just stares at the flashing lights and it calms him immediately. It’s small and portable so I always make sure it’s in the diaper bag. I just bought another one so I can make sure we always have one nearby.
The new one I received is different than the one I bought last year. See photo. The old one is on the left and the new one on the right. I prefer the old design. The new version seems a little cheaper and has different songs. Luckily my son is too young to know the difference but I’m disappointed that they’re different.
I bought this because of a review I read. The songs are wonderful! Hearing them repeatedly is not as irritating as some other infant toys. I love the volume control in that I can choose how loud the music is played. The lights are a nice attraction. However…a teether??? Babies put everything in their mouths. This is HARD plastic! It would have been a more appropriate teether if the handle were soft an pliable or another part was soft…like the beads.
I ordered this little toy for auditory development for my grandchildren. This little device is wonderful. My first grandson to use it was five months old and he was mesmerized by the music and the lights. It plays 10 classical music themes for anywhere from 20 to 40 seconds each. Each piece sounds complete. It sounds as if played by a celesta or music box. It has a low and high volume control switch and an off switch. This device does NOT play soothing sounds for sleep. There is a handle that my grand baby loves to hold and chew on as he is teething. This toy will expose him to beautifully composed music that can be enjoyed during playtime. It requires batteries that can be easily replace with use of a screwdriver. It can be cleaned with a sanitizing wipe and it safe for infants and children. I am very pleased with my purchase.
The media could not be loaded. We bought this in 2013, and it’s still going strong. It has survived being dropped, either onto the floor or down the stairs, too many times to keep track of.
The only thing I don’t like is the order of the power switch. It goes from off, to quiet, to loud, and it’s really easy to push too hard and skip the quiet level. Especially for tiny hands. I would have preferred off, loud, then quiet because another thing is that the loud level definitely lives up to the definition!
My kids now just like to listen to the music, but when they were babies, they loved the lights and chewing on it as well.
Conclusion
In conclusion, parents will appreciate this musical play gift set. It introduces baby to a variety of musical sounds and helps them get acclimated to the rhythm of music. The soft music of the toy piano is soothing and relaxing for baby and will encourage them to begin experimenting with different sounds and music styles.
