Mineral sunscreens have been around for a long time. They contain mineral ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide which give protection from both UVA and UVB light and are water resistant. Mineral sunscreens are considered to have a more natural feel to the skin; they are less greasy than chemical sunscreens and do not leave a white residue. This mineral sunscreen stick by Blue Lizard is easy to apply with a dop stick applicator and has a light, fresh scent. The SPF 50+ provides good protection from both UVA and UVB rays. This is Blue Lizard’s first mineral stick sunscreen. This mineral sunscreen stick protects and primes the skin for a flawless, even finish. This sunscreen stick provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, making it an ideal sunscreen for anyone with active lifestyles, including beach and poolgoers. The lightweight, oil-free formula ensures an ultra-light, non-greasy feel, even on sensitive skin.

Great sunscreen for small kids! On my skin it blends in very well (first picture is one strike, second is a couple of up/down moves, third is fully blended – I’d say 5-6 up/down moves)… on skin just a bit darker than mine it starts showing even when massaged in thoroughly. It’s a pretty small container and we finished it in about 1.5-2 months of daily use, mostly just one one kid’s face.
I’ve been dying to try Blue Lizard sunscreen on my toddler ever since I started seeing other parents rave about it on my social media “mom groups.” I didn’t want to spend $20 or more on a bigger cream or spray until I tried it out. This was a great option! At $10, this stick form is the perfect size for throwing in my diaper or beach bag.
I was a little bummed when I saw that this is fragrance-free. I’m happy to report that there *is* a slight (natural) scent to this. It has a little bit of a coconut or “sunscreen” smell. It’s VERY light but it’s there; I personally love the smell of Coppertone water babies, but this seems to get better reviews.
It’s actually really easy to blend in! I’ve tried other sticks that are super hard and don’t go on very smoothly; Or, they’re too thick & leave a white cast. If you’ve ever tried applying sunscreen on a squirmy/wet toddler, you’ll appreciate that this is easy to blend in quickly and doesn’t leave white streaks.
So far, it leaves his skin feeling extremely soft and protects him really well from the sun. He’s worn it for a few hours in and out of the pool and NEVER burned (I reapply every hour).
Since I love this so much, I’ll definitely be buying the spray and cream versions next! My son‘s favorite part? Elmo on the front! ❤️ Highly recommend.
Hope this helps! ☀️
My kids have sensitive skin. This is the only sunblock so far that doesn’t make my kids turn red and irritated shortly after putting this on. It’s comfortable and lightweight. It’s also easy to spread in this handy deodorant style applicator. I hate sprays because inevitably there are missed spots that burn baby burn. This is a happy medium. It’s thicker than the liquid, but is a dream to apply. I hate putting sunscreen on my kids but it is a necessity for my pale freckly littles. This stuff makes applying it quick and painless. I use it on myself too! I do wish they had a higher SPF then 50 though. ….remember pale and freckly. We need an SPF 70+ Option!
This is surprisingly good. Like most stick sunscreens, it requires a little bit of effort to spread. But it’s not terrible.
I purchased this because I absolutely hate the smell of sunscreen. For whatever reason, when a sunscreen has a certain smell (neutrogena sunscreens have it) it always makes my eyes dry and sting. And it’s unpleasant to wear all day.
This sunscreen had absolutely no fragrance, I was stunned. It’s amazing, and I will probably repurchase when I run out.
For darker skin tones, I am not sure if this sunscreen will leave a white cast, but I am going to guess that it will, based on its performance.
I love blue lizard sunscreen! It is my preferred sunscreen for my kids’ skin. They always complain about it being rubbed on their face though. This makes it so much easier and it doesn’t get in their eyes. It can be a little hard to get it going on smoothly because it takes a minute for it to warm up (against the skin) to have some give to it. It’s the consistencey of deodorant when rubbing it on. It’s worth the money to get my kids to wear it on their faces. They like that it’s Elmo, too. Will be buying again.
We LOVE blue lizzard baby sunscreen. This face sunscreen is amazing. It’s hard to spread but the stick makes it really easy to use on a busy toddler who doesn’t like her face touched. The sun protection is amazing. I applied twice a day while we were in Hawaii in the sun all day every day for 8 days and our 1 year old didn’t get burnt at all!
Easy to apply! Long lasting. Convenient packaging. I liked it so much, I found a similar sunscreen stick for me and my husband. Love blue lizard brand and know my daughters skin is protected from the suns harmful rays when swimming and playing outside.
Works so well. Living in a hot southern state we have intense sun and this product does the trick to keep their faces protected from sunburn. I’ve tried other baby/kids sunblocks and this one seems to work better and last longer than others I’ve tried. I would recommend using it on little faces 🙂
I was a little nervous because you are not supposed to use sunscreen on a baby under six month old. But we were going to the Bahamas and I would rather him have some kind of protection and then getting a sunburn. I only put it on the tops of his feet and had no problem whatsoever.
I had never used a mineral sunscreen before, so I was pleasantly surprised when this worked great. I have very fair skin made even more sensitive from chemo and this did the trick. It wasn’t hard to spread just not what I was use to. I spent the day in the sun without getting a painfully burnt.
In conclusion, The 5 ounce, water resistant mineral sunscreen stick is extremely easy to apply and absorbs quickly. It’s water-resistant, sweat resistant and water resistant, making it a great sunscreen for all of your needs. This sunscreen is allergy tested and hypoallergenic, it’s also fragrance free and non-comedogenic. The 0.5 ounce container is great for travel or for a quick touch up of your face or hands. This sunscreen is perfect for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
