You can never have enough ointment, right? Pain, rash, or discomfort is contagious, so you’ll be glad to have this on hand for any diaper rash emergencies. The ointment’s thick formula is fast-absorbing, making it perfect for soothing eczema, rashes, and cracked skin. If your baby’s bottom is itching, it may be caused by diaper rash. But instead of slathering on creams with chemicals, try a natural remedy. That’s why we’re big fans of Boudreaux’s Butt Paste Maximum Strength Diaper Rash Ointment. It’s a thick, white cream that helps speed up healing, absorbs quickly, and smells good.
Facts About Boudreaux’s Butt Paste Maximum Strength Diaper Rash Ointment, 2 Ounce Tube
The one shown is in cream form. It’s a tube and is thick, hence paste. Use sparingly, a thin layer works better. Hopefully that helps
I use small amounts on any cuts, acne, razor bumps and it def helps. Any visible areas I only use it if I’m going to be home or at night, as many said it’s white and very thick. I love the capabilities of this stuff and will purchase even after the diaper stage.
This brand does not test on animals. This particular product and the original formula are both also vegan.

Zinc oxide, 40%
We used it to heal a rash and broken skin around a colostomy bag on an elderly person. It saved his skin. We put it around the bag and it even healed the skin under the adhesive. So thankful someone posted the results of this use, it was amazing!!!
Can be used for all ages
It’s great for skin breakdown and those areas that get stinky from sweat. The best thing is to keep the area clean and dry. Dry is key. This stuff mainly helps heal the skin so I’m turn helps with the sweatiness and odor.

It’s wonderful! I’ve been using it since my baby boy was born and he has never gotten a rash yet! So I’m thinking this stuff really does prevent rashes ! It does have a little unflattering smell to it, but it’s not too overwhelming, and a little bit of it goes a long way! Very easy application ! I highly recommend this… It’s wonderful! I have never known this product to be what I would call “oily”…. although I store it standing on its flat cap and if it sits for a while a little bit of oily or watery substance may come out the next time you use it. I just push out a little more and it returns to its normal paste consistency.

FOR PEOPLE WITH PERIORAL DERMATITIS. This stuff is AMAZING! I had done a ton of online research for home remedies for PD and this stuff kept coming up so I decided to give it a try. My thinking with lotions is if they’re gentle enough to be put on a babies skin chances are they’re okay for mine. My PD isn’t terrible but it’s extremely itchy, red, and it burns. Put this stuff on and after one day my PD is almost gone! And it completely takes away any itching or burning pain. It’s incredible! What else is nice about it is the color is somewhat like concealer in a way (obviously different skin colors would change this) but with just a tiny amount dabbed on it almost looks like you’re wearing makeup in the PD area which is nice because everything else irritates and is supposed to be avoided during flare ups. Would highly recommend this stuff for honestly any rash anywhere.
If you are suffering from an anal fissure, this has been the only relief I have been able to get. I have had the issue for 1 year and it has eliminated the itch, it seems to be slowly healing the cut so I probably will not need surgery due to this cream.
I purchased this to use as deodorant. I use a pea size amount for each underarm. It works so well it’s scary. But what isn’t scary is the ingredients and lesser risk of breast cancer. This tube will last me a helluva long time and it is more or less sport-proof. I cannot typically sweat through it (it’s a strong barrier), but if I do there is no smell. Even though I’m a woman I get very distinct body odor smell from my armpit and this has solved that problem.
An unforseeb benefit is the skin of my armpits are slowly going back to a normal, lighter color (not bc of the white of the zinc oxide, the skin looks more normal even when I have scrubbed this stuff off in the shower). Over the course of around two weeks I would say my armpits color is slowly improving.
My newborn spent 4 days in nicu before we could bring him home. When we did he had a horribly severe diaper rash with broken skin. Tried everything to get him some relief then I read somewhere where a mama sprinkled goldbond foot powder on first then spread butt paste over. I was desperate. So I tried it. To my amazement my little stopped crying instantly and within a couple days the rash was healing. Let me just say how much I love this stuff and am so appreciative it helped heal my sons little tush.
Ok, so that title might sound a little gross, but we’ve been using this for my dad who’s in his 80s and unfortunately isn’t as mobile as he used to be. The nurse noticed that on my dad’s posterior the skin was showing signs of breaking down. To keep things from developing into full on bed sores dad had to do a combination of standing more (which is difficult for him) as well as apply an ointment to the effected area. This was the ointment we used. It started helping him on day 1. The name Butt Paste also made my dad chuckle which made him less reluctant to use something for babies.
2oz is the perfect size for my diaper bag. We buy the bigger 4 oz tubes locally but needed travel size. We have only gone through two large tubes so far and my baby is almost 7 months. She would get baddddd diaper rash as a newborn. We used Destin (every color you can imagine) and Aquaphor with every diaper change but it didn’t work.
I was at CVS desperately reading ingredients on different products. This Butt Paste (red kind) had the most active ingredient (40% zinc oxide)! It also had the least number of total ingredients. It was by luck that I found it. It was the last one on the very lowest shelf. This is all we use ever since.
If baby is a little red, we apply to her butt and bits and she isnt red the next diaper change. Most of it wipes into the diaper as she wears it, but a tiny bit gets caught in the folds. It easily wipes the next diaper change and I never reapply.
Don’t get it on clothes or sheets. Just put a little bit on your finger, apply, and wipe your finger clean on the inside of the diaper. No need for butt spatulas.
From left to right, I have the 2 oz cardboard box, the 2 oz bottle, and the 4 oz bottle. That’s a measuring tape in inches to help you compare sizes.
Let me know if I left anything out.
I order this cream with Amazon’s subscribe and save every month. It’s the only cream that will stop any diaper rash with in a couple of applications. My daughter had creams from the dermatologist that didn’t work on her super sensitive skin and diaper rash that was bleeding (please don’t think I’m a bad parent, we change diapers as soon as she’s messed them; she’s just super sensitive); this cream cleared it up within a couple applications, so I always keep it on hand now.
I got this product out of desperation to cure my perioral dermatitis. I had tried everything – zero therapy, Metrogel, month long cycles of Doxycycline – and nothing worked or kept the POD away. I saw online that this helped some people so ordered it right away and it literally changed my life overnight.
The first time I used it I was nervous because it burned/tingled quite a bit but I kept it on overnight anyways. When I woke up, my moderate-to-severe POD was almost entirely gone. After one more night of use it was completely gone. I actually almost cried, it was such a miracle. Hundreds of dollars on dermatologists and prescriptions, and this $10 butt paste fixed my face. Looking back I think the burning sensation was probably because my skin barrier was sooo damaged, and the zinc in the butt paste helped repair it.
I now walk around without a stitch of makeup. Before I found this I was wearing 3 different types of foundation/concealer and checking the mirror every 45 minutes to see if there was any redness showing through. My skin is literally flowing. I don’t even use it every night – whenever I notice a bit of redness or any bumps popping up, I apply overnight just to the affected area, and it’s gone in the morning. For anyone suffering from POD, please try this!!! It will change your life.
This may not be what most of you want to read, but if it helps just a few of you, it’s worth it.
I’m a 60-something grandfather, haven’t had to deal much with diaper rash for quite some time. But last spring I developed the most stubborn case of, uh, well, jock itch that I’ve ever had. I tried one antifungal powder, cream, spray, whatever after another; I even got some prescription medications. Everything seemed to clear up the rash just fine until the day after I stopped using it; then the rash would back in full bloom. A couple of months ago, I read an Amazon review by someone who had cured their jock itch with this stuff. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I tried it, and, after a month, voila! rash was gone, and six weeks later, it hasn’t returned. I recommend using the maximum strength, 40% zinc oxide, version. And if it works for you like it did for me, let someone know!
Hell, I’d buy this just to show people the funny name and the cool-lookin’ baby on the tube! I spent some time laid up in bed and developed some pressure sores; I asked my daughter (she’s an RN with a BS degree) what I should do and she didn’t hesitate for one second: “BOUDREAUX’S BUTT PASTE!” was her immediate reply. I thought she was kidding! But it turns out that there really *is* such a thing, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that it’s surely a kickass (oops) product – works great on pressure/bedsores, so it ought to kick butt (oops) on diaper rash, no sweat. 😉
In conclusion, this ointment is perfect for treating and preventing diaper rash. In fact, it’s safe for use on infants, children, and adults. This ointment isn’t greasy, and it absorbs easily. In most cases, you won’t even need to wash your hands after using it. This ointment is hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, and it’s fragrance-free, lanolin-free, and tear-free.
