I’ve printed 8730 pages with this printer, and I get about 2000 pages per TN660 cartridge. The Printer Report shows quite a bit of useful info, including the last ten errors, which in my case showed the last three "Replace Toner" errors. Okay price and good yield. Don’t forget to reset the printer so the cartridge lasts longer than Brother wants it to. For mine DL-L2360D, I go into the set-up menu –> printing –> continuous. This removes the automatic stop when the toner is lower
Watched a video on YouTube because I didn’t want to do something wrong and make a mess. My husband wasn’t home when the cartridge that came with my new machine ran out of toner or ink whatever it is. It was so easy to change the cartridge! I only got a little black smudge on my thumb. I put the used cartridge in the box the new cartridge came in and slapped the return label on it that was included. Easy Peasy. I REALLY LOVE my Brothers machine. This cartridge is easy to replace and believe me, nothing is usually easy for me to do. Thank You Brothers for making it sooo easy!
I have purchased and used both generic off brand toner cartridges and authentic Brother toner cartridges.
My experience with both has been satisfactory, although I find my total printed page count is better by nearly 700 sheets with the Brother high yield cartridges over a generic high yield alternative; with that said, many third party brands exist and your mileage may vary between various brands and manufacturing lots.
For me, I have found value in purchasing OEM Brother toner over third party alternatives. Hope this helps!
I have a brother printer and the replace cartridge warning came on so I ordered a new cartridge. While I was waiting for the new cartridge, I did some more printing and it seemed to be printing ok, so when the new cartridge came I waited to install it until the printing with the old cartridge became too light or whatever. Except for the warning message every time I printed something, the old cartridge lasted at least 6 more months. Maybe it was a little lighter at the end, but the printing was still very readable. Then I installed the new cartridge and it worked perfectly. It’s been a few months and we don’t print a lot, but the new cartridge is still working ok. I can’t comment on the page yield exactly, but if the cartridge lasts 2 or 3 years I can’t complain.
Of course the OEM cartridge is more expensive, but this one is lasting a long time with no issues. Would recommend and buy again.
I’m amazed when I read some of the low rating reviews here, especially someone screaming this isn’t a high yield toner. I bought my replacement tonder cartridge over a year ago and still haven’t unboxed it because this thing just goes and goes and goes (and I print A LOT of recipes before cooking, on top of everything else I do). I was thinking it was low about three months ago and changed it to draft output unless I need something in better quality and can’t believe it still churns out pages perfectly good for my needs even when it should have been dead about three months ago. I have no complaints. None.
I know these original Brother cartridges are more expensive, but I don’t trust anything else. I’ve seen printers ruined when an improperly sealed spills toner all over the printer. So I just stick with the genuine cartridges and I don’t print all that much so I don’t have to replace them too often.
I do know that the Brother printers will tell you the toner is empty when it may not be, and refuse to continue to print. They go on page count printed, and not really how much toner was used, or actually how much is left. Many Brother printers have a key sequence workaround to “reset” the counter and then you can just change the toner when the print actually starts to fade. I did this with my MFC-L8850CDW and I got an extra year out of each cartridge. But as I said, I don’t print that much – I’ve had the printer over 5 years and have only changed each color once, and black twice. I always use the high capacity cartridges.
Its up to you if you want to save money and risk a catastrophe or lower print quality, but I know that these genuine cartridges work without issue.
So I was using a non-genuine Brother toner cartridge and it was printing perfectly fine on paper. However, when I was trying to print on Avery shipping labels, the ink would smudge and basically fall off if anything lightly touched it. So much of the ink would come off that whatever it was I printed could not be read. I saw someone write a review for this item saying that it does not work on Avery labels but it does! Prints VERY clear and does not smudge AT ALL. I don’t know if maybe the printer he was using wasn’t good but I have the Brother HL-L2340DW Laser Printer and used it in conjunction with the Avery Internet Shipping Address Labels #5126. Is this ink costly? Yes. But if you’re trying to print on Avery shipping labels, this is the ink to get! You get what you pay for! If you just want to print on regular paper, you would probably be fine with a non-genuine toner cartridge.
This just works. It took me literally 5 minutes to install maybe 10 minutes including reading(viewing the pictorial) directions. If I were to do it again I think 3 minutes would be leisurely. Got one small smudge on my hand – very clean compared to previous cartridge changing experiences. Prints look perfect however do not expect this to have top resolution and sharpness. It is designed as a home-use medium print quality, low price-per-page printer. I waited too long to do this using the printer-included cartridge rated for 500 sheets for at least 2 years until finally, the prints were getting a bit faded so I also got great value from the Brother printer itself. The free shipping label for recycling was also much nicer than throwing the old one away. Brother printer cartridges are a great value per page. Totally recommend this printer and cartridge.
Ive tried a few of those cheaper replacements – even some that were refilled OEM Brother cartridges, but the secret sauce was missing. After about 50% of use, the images were getting very light. Even after I shook the cartridge and cleaned the drum (which I thought might degrade it). Then I went back to the Brother OEM cart and my drum is fine, the prints are fine. Brother keeps the quality up until this runs out. The only issue we have the price [:-(]. Not all toners are the same obviously.
My toner ran out in the middle of a seriously, serious, work product. I almost panicked and then I remembered how I had ordered this very toner cartridge several YEARS ago from Amazon and so I ordered it again and the cartridge was delivered WITHIN 7 HOURS. I could barely believe it. As I remembered – it installed like a dream – and I was back again with the project. Thank you BROTHER and thank YOU Amazon for saving me once again!! This is the toner cartridge you WANT for your Brother TN660. My workhorse of a printer.
