They do fit but, they are not vented like all other brand nipples. So it would only work with dr brown system or rings. With my Ameda bottles and nfant rings, Dr brown nipples collapse because of no-ventilation problem.

The lengths are the same. The preemie just has a smaller hole and thus a slower flow. My kiddos were born at 28 weeks and once they graduated to bottles they took the preemie nipples just fine.

It honestly depends on the baby my son is almost 2 months and i use the level 2s already. Mostly due to him being placed on a.r. formula. I say give it a try but if it seems like your child is gaging I would stop and go back to level 1.

It means this nippel can start to be used all the way from a preemie and up. I still use it for my babies 9 months old because of the slowest flow available. It is good for breastfed babies and helps them not get used to the faster flow of regular nipples and promotes longer breastfeeding relationship with the mother.

My eight week old son has acid reflux and we had to add cereal to his bottle. We tried cutting the hole bigger in size 1 and 2 nipples, but they would always end up too fast. I read somewhere about these nipples and decided to give them a try. They say nine months, but they work perfectly with rice cereal! I highly recommend these if you are in the same situation.

To keep it short on why this helped my 1 month old son and me: I am writing this review right now after I just used the premie nipple and this is the first time I’ve been able to feed him without him screaming at me constantly for a half hour wanting more food, or his acid reflux problems, or gas In about a week!

Some background info about my and my baby’s journey these first few weeks:
He was 8 lbs 11oz. Not an early term baby at all, or a premie. However, after my family and even my pediatrician kept saying, “oh if he’s hungry feed him more.” I would feed him more. I would feed him 3-4oz per feeding of breast milk and formula. I’m a first time mom, and I felt like that was too much, but he just wouldn’t stop screaming, and he was acting like he was still hungry. Finally, I took him to a different doctor, and he told me I was feeding him too much and it was causing him to have acid reflux, hence the screaming. Plus, he also is a very gassy baby, so that is also not helping the situation. But I’ve been feeding him so much at once now he is used to getting a lot.
I already switched from the Phillips bottles to dr. Brown bottles, and I had the size 1 nipple, and I had dropped him back down to wear he should be eating: 1-2 oz per feeding. The Phillips was practically shooting it in his mouth, and while the 1 size nipple from dr brown helped, he was still screaming at me and having the same issue as if I hadn’t stopped over feeding him and he was still getting a lot at once. I finally bought these thinking, “if I can help him eat it slower, he might feel fuller faster, and might not keep acting like he’s hungry and maybe help his reflux. And he likes to suck, so this seems like a good idea” I was right and it helped him so much. I literally cried tears of joy when he just went back to sleep without screaming at me after he ate.
Please other first time moms: trust your instincts, you’re not wrong. I’ve felt like I was wrong for the past two weeks, and today is the one time I felt right in ordering these.

Love these! When my son was two months old, he seemed to be taking longer to drink his bottles with the number 1 Dr. Brown nipple. I wonder if maybe his mouth was getting tired from sucking so I tried out these nipples. Made a huge difference in his feeding and the amount he’ll eat now. He can eat much faster, doesn’t choke due to the faster flow and has increased his eating by at least 5-7 ounces per day which is great because before he was close to being under weight due to the amount he was eating.
If you’re going to try this nipple for the same reason I did, I’d suggest propping your baby up well in a sitting position when you first try the nipple and take it slow. The first time my son tried it, I think he was overwhelmed by the speed of the nipple flow because he wasn’t expecting it. The second time we tried it, he did much better and now after using it for several weeks, he barely has to be propped up when eating because he’s very used to the flow now.

The media could not be loaded.  We have two kids and both my kids love Dr. Brown bottles. It’s our go to. Some folks recommend buying several different bottles and testing it out. I say, if Dr. Brown fails then try the other ones out!
We started using level three at 7 months with our second and at 8 months with our first. We never pushed a faster nipple because they were perfectly content with level 2. The only reason we changed to level three was to make the transition to sippy cups easier.
These nipples are SUPER durable. Both my kids have used it. They go into the dishwasher all the time and have held up for 2 years (shocker) and counting.
We have used these nipples with the medela bottles and medela collars with no leaks. Of course, we mostly use these with the Dr. Brown bottles. We have the regular and the options and this nipple can be used for both

Breastfeeding: I mostly pump, but will breastfeed my child occasionally at night. With my youngest at a young age she seemed to switch really easily between nursing and bottle. At 7 months she seems to be more picky and favor the bottle.

Rice cereal: We have used level three with rice cereal. If it is diluted enough it will work with this nipple. This is nice because it is slightly heavier and many say it helps them sleep better at night. We tried rice cereal with this nipple at 5 months. In my opinion, it’s nice to feed rice cereal to a 5 month old in a simple and quick way, my kids did not sleep much better because there was rice in the milk.

Overall: Great transition nipple. We have used level three the longest. From 7 months to 14 months. They are super durable and my kids love them.

These have made a huge difference for my daughter, who was in NICU for about a week as she would lose oxygen when she tried to feed. The problem only subsided when she was put on slow flow nipples. However, as she has grown and we’ve gotten into bigger bottles, it seemed she was struggling with even the Level 1 nipples of many brands. I ordered these and I could immediately tell she was more comfortable feeding with them, and less milk leaked from her mouth, she coughed and spit up less, and overall it just made her feeding time more relaxing for everyone. I use them in the Dr. Brown’s bottles but also found that they fit the “Parent’s Choice” bottles from Walmart. She is now 7 weeks old and we’ll be using them indefinitely.

UPDATE: My daughter is now 16 weeks old (4 months) and we are still using these preemie nipples. I contemplated moving up to level 1, but she still seems comfortable and content with these, to the extent that I went ahead and ordered a fresh set.

These are definitely faster then the level 2 nipples. I bought these a bit early and thought my 4 month old might be able to handle them as he was sucking his level 2 nipples so hard he would suck air past the side of the nipple. I gave up that idea halfway through his first feeding with these and put them in storage for a few months as he could barely keep up and started gulping after about 2 ounces. I guess it kind of worked though, because after that he started slowing himself down to a “comfortable” pace with the level 2’s. I’m sure there are some parents out there that will more or less say I should have know better, but I though perhaps these would be like a level “2.5” as there didn’t seem to be that drastic of a difference between the level 1 and level 2’s. I’m sure someone out there will tell the mathematical differences in orifice size and set the record straight. And yes, this is our first kid, so I (we) are still figuring it out. 🙂

My daughter choked and sputtered a lot when bottle feeding. A speech pathologist told me she was having trouble learning the suck/swallow/breathe pattern of drinking, so she recommended Dr. Brown’s bottles, since they have a slower flow. This has completely remedied my daughter’s feeding problems. The bottles and nipples are specially designed to help prevent babies from getting gassy, which is a benefit, but I like them because they’re slower flow than a lot of nipples on the market, so they’re completely manageable for my daughter. The Speech pathologist also told me there is no need to graduate to a higher flow nipple; she said this is just a marketing gimmick bottle companies use, but babies are perfectly fine using #1 nipples all through their bottle-feeding days, if necessary. I’m going to stick with this level as long as needed: my daughter’s 6 months now and this level is still working for her.

My son was barely 3 months old when he started eating a little less than before, he was also starting to “spit up” a lot more. When I looked up causes, i learned it was time to step up to the next size. As soon as he got his first bottle with these nipples, the improvement was very apparent. He went back to increasing his intake as well as stopped spitting up. These nipples are of extremely good quality and have lasted through repeated steamer sanitation after use. Their flow stays consistent and to sum it up, I am very happy with them.

I used number 1 nipple for two months and wasn’t sure when I need to switch to number 2. So I monitored the time of feeding which may take up to 20-30 minutes. Baby easily loose interest or patience when she cannot get enough milk within that period of time, so I tried number 2 nipple and she ate 4oz in 10-15 minutes which is quite efficient. Although people say this would cause baby suck more airs, I feel it does not make much difference. Effective feeding encouraged her to eat more and this is a pleasant result. I heard lactation consultant saying nipple size does not matter and I do not truly agree from my experience. Recommend it for 2 plus month baby.

Thank goodness for Dr. Brown’s and these preemie nipples!! I’m exclusively breastfeeding my 2-month old baby and I started pumping to introduce bottle feeding so that daddy and other caretakers can help with feedings. I started with Lansinoh medium flow which was way too fast. She was guzzling 4oz in under 10 minutes and I could hear her swallowing every 2 seconds!! Every breastfeeding mother knows baby has to really work their sucking reflex in order to get the milk and there are several seconds in between swallows. So I put away the Lansinoh bottles to be used when she’s around 6 months. I then tried a sample that I received which was Phillips Avent Natural slow flow. This was better but still too fast, plus it leaked if you held it a certain way. I started researching nipples that had the slowest possible flow and everyone pointed to these preemie nipples. Although my baby isn’t a preemie, this is the best nipple for her and honestly I feel Dr. Brown’s should market this nipple for breastfeeding babies because it’s the only one on the market that closely mimicks mother’s flow. I use these nipples with the Dr. Brown’s Newborn Feeding set. The set comes with level 1 nipples but I swap them out for these. The preemie nipple combined with the ventilation system in the newborn bottles make for the best bottle feeding experience. It takes her at least 25-30 minutes to finish 4 oz. Overall, baby and I are very pleased with these.
