I haven’t used it on 4K equipment but it works great on HD signals. The product specs indicate the unit will work with [email protected] Hz video so it should work with xbox series x.
Not sure, but I would think as long as it’s HDMI ports to HDMI it should.
No this is not an extender, it’s a splitter, it is more like a switch. I would not recommend this unit regardless, it is junk.
Naw, it’s just for hdmi
I’m not sure what you are asking. Are you asking if a Roku Stick will fit into the splitter ? If so, I can’t say, for I don’t have a Roku Stick, and don’t know its size. What I can say, is that the two HDMI plugs that I have plugged into the splitter are each approximately 3/4" wide.
Yes you can
Yes it will work. The switch is up to 4K compatible, any hdmi connection will work with it. I have an Xbox connected to a 4K t.v. and a t.v. that’s not 4K, both work fine.
Yes.
The DVD player should work fine but if you are thinking of using your Fire stick as the other input, I would guess no, it won’t work. The Fire stick has no power of it’s own and neither does the HDMI switch. It might work if you turn on the TV first so that the HDMI switch has power but I would ask the manufacturer bef… The DVD player should work fine but if you are thinking of using your Fire stick as the other input, I would guess no, it won’t work. I have not tried this but I do not see why it would not work. The button switches from input 1 to input 2 when the input choice button is pressed. As long as the button is in the right position, it should work. If you’re looking for a switcher, this works fine. You can use a switcher to change between feeds, e.g. if your TV has only one HDMI port but you regularly connect two devices via HDMI, you can switch between them at the press of a button. If you’re looking for a *splitter*, however, you need a different device. A splitter will simultaneously show your video feed on two devices; it’s like a power strip but for HDMI, where multiple devices can be charged at the same time even though there’s only one outlet in the wall. Make sure you know which device you’re looking for. Docking a star for somewhat misleading advertising: while the description does say “only one monitor will display at a time”, the use of the term “splitter” makes this less than obvious.
This HDMI switch works for the PS4 with no issues. If you are looking for an HDMI switch that functions correctly with the PS4, this is it.
The struggle of finding an HDMI switch to work with the PS4…
In general (not this specific switch), this style of unpowered HDMI switch uses power from the HDMI cable in input port 1 to power the unit. So, port 1 must be connected to something with power for the switch to function properly. So, to use port 2, whatever is in port 1 has to be turned on so the switch is powered, which is a hassle in of itself. Apparently, the PS4 doesn’t provide enough power through its HDMI for this style of switch to work properly. This is a common complaint for this style of HDMI switch. I purchased two other brands/models of this style switch and had problems with both of them. When the PS4 was connected, the switch would not detect it at all or it would switch the PS4 on and off. But, the switches worked fine for other devices.
This is not an issue with this HDMI switch.
I can verify that this switch works with the PS4. I have it connected so the Output = Television, Input 1 = PS4, and Input 2 = Empty. The PS4 works perfect when it is the only device plugged in.
I leave Input 2 empty 95% of the time. I like it available to plug in a tablet, laptop, Nintendo switch, …, whatever, as needed. It also works perfect when other devices are plugged into port 2.
The item I received has no writing on it like the picture in the listing. I feel the listing is deceiving because of this. I am not even sure it’s the same device. The button feels mushy when pushed. I bought this for a friend and I can only hope that it works as it’s advertised to. I’ll update my review once I have more information regarding whether it actually works or not.
UPDATE: 5/22/19 While I’m still not impressed with the look of this splitter, I have to say that it does work as advertised. I hooked it up to my friend’s tv splitting the incoming hdmi connections of the cable box and a roku express. I have updated my review as a result of it seeming to work as advertised.
Just plug in HDMI cable into it, and the cable into the TV, and you’re good to go! Just push the button to go from Satellite to Roku. No more switching cables! Great product for all those TV’s that have only one HDMI port! It doesn’t come with the cable. The description doesn’t even mention that you’ll need one, so take my advice. Order one when you order this switch!
I purchased this GANA HDMI splitter for use with a Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 3 game setup. I have one available HDMI input to my television and don’t want to unplug one cable, find the other, and plug it in every time I change systems, so I went with this HDMI splitter. It has two ports on one end and one port on the other. There’s no power cable or anything additional. I plugged the HDMI cables from my PS3 and Switch in the ports on one side, and plugged an extra HDMI cable (which you’ll need and is not included) into my television and the other splitter port. I turned the television on, and it displayed the Nintendo Switch screen. I hit the button on the splitter, and it displayed the PS3 screen. There is an illuminated number 1 or 2 on the switch that shows which input it is using. It’s simple to set up and just as simple to use.
Overall, I didn’t find any flaws with this product and am perfectly satisfied with it. There wasn’t any degradation of audio or visual quality, and I didn’t observe any additional lag while using it. I highly recommend it. 5/5 stars
Using for 1 Directv receiver 2 TVs in adjacent rooms. We were able to run an HDMI cable between rooms via existing receptacle boxes that were near each other. We won’t ever need to have both TVs on at the same time so this is perfect. Small and simple and great functionality. Thank you!
This was my first experience with an HDMI switch, and an opportunity to learn the difference between active and passive switches. This is a passive switch with no external power supply. It draws switching power from the TV’s HDMI port, but provides no signal amplification. Not a problem as long as the input devices provide sufficient amplification and you’re not running a relatively short output cable to the TV. In my case the switch didn’t work so well with a Fire Stick hooked to the input port of the switch, as it’s a low-voltage device designed to connect directly to the TV’s HDMI port without a cable run. I found, however, that when devices with higher voltage outputs such as my DVD player and Xbox360 are connected to the switch’s input ports, signal pass-through is just fine and video quality is good. Passive switches such as this are good for larger devices with shorter cable runs to the TV. If you’re running a lot of cable (i.e. room-to-room) or working with low-voltage devices such as streaming players, an active switch with a power supply may be the better way to go. Overall a decent switch for the money if you understand the limitations of passive switches and can work around them.
We have an Apple TV and a PS4 that were sharing the same HDMI cable going through the wall from our TV. We looked at picking up a solution at Best Buy but these typically sell for $60+ for a decent, easy to use solution. Both devices plug into one end via HDMI and the HDMI to the TV plug into the other. No need to select inputs on the TV itself, instead just clicking the button allows you to easily switch from one device to the other. Having a remote to handle this would be nice, but it’s much easier than fighting with unplugging and replugging in devices when you want to switch back and forth. Highly recommended for the money – quality could be improved, but we’ll see how it holds up.
I needed just a basic HDMI switch, and that is what I got. While I did give it five stars; it works and I am happy with it, if there was anything that I would have changed was the indicator light. Yes, it is nice to know which cable is connected to the TV, but for me? It’s a two into one switch. If I turn my TV input to HDMI and the DVD player doesn’t automatically start up? I know it’s set to the other input. it’s a push button switch so I can see how it helps someone see which input is connected. I just cover the light so it doesn’t light up my sleeping area while i sleep. No, its not that bright, but I like it as dark as possible while I sleep. Hence the 5 stars. I am just too picky at times. No big deal, just added for the information.
I’ve purchased dozens of adapters and splitters on Amazon over the years; VGA, DVI, HDMI, etc. I’ve had some which were much larger than the picture, some that had almost caught fire due to faulty wiring, and more.
This has been probably one of my favorite small Amazon purchases!
It’s small, compact, sleek, and simple. It works both ways so you can have two sources with one output, or one source to two outputs. Changing outputs is as simple as pressing the button in the middle, which I hooked up behind my monitor using a small Command Strip.
I was gifted a really nice monitor, though I have an identical one setup next to it. I had a TV plugged into both a console, which I use sometimes before or after work, and a separate PC which I use for music, videos, audiobooks while I work. I wanted to swap it out with the monitor but the issue was the monitor only had 1 HDMI port, while the TV had 2.
This fixed my problem, and improved everything else!
The sleep mode lets me just tap a button on either device and it will wake up the monitor and connect to that input. The picture quality seems fantastic, or I at least haven’t experienced any issues.
I was worried this would just add more steps to my morning, make my cord organization harder, and potentially not always work the way it should. However, this little piece has exceeded my expectations.
Now I might buy one or two more for the TV’s in my house!
