This goes FROM and HDMI *OUTPUT* TO a VGA *INPUT*. So if you’re connecting FROM say a brand new laptop with an HDMI *OUTPUT* and going TO the VGA *INPUT* on your 23ES, then yes, this will work.

I don’t think vga does have sound the best way to go about it would be HDMI to HDMI if your monitor haves hdmi inputs or dvi is better for gaming

It’s really meant for a new computer (HDMI port) to connect to an older monitor (VGA port). The data flows just one-way. They make a different cable that does what you need, I think.

Bought a new laptop and wanted to use older/much larger video monitor. The monitor has a VGA plug and the new laptop only has HDMI plugs. This VGA to HDMI cable fit the bill and works great.

I have an older model projector that does not have an HDMI connection and a all in one computer that dies not have a VGA connection. Well this HDMI to VGA cable is a life saver. I had a presentation to do and this cable performed perfectly.

My 12 year old computer needed replacing, so I bought an Acer TC-875, an excellent budget price computer for those interested in surfing the web, email, etc.. When I got it home I found that the new computer would not connect to my perfectly good old monitor because computer monitors these days connect via an HDMI cable, and my old monitor only had a VGA socket (like they all did in the “old days”). So, I figured I would have to shell out more money for a new monitor with a HDMI socket, and toss my perfectly good old one in the land-fill. But wait! Here was an HDMI to VGA cable. The HDMI end would plug into the computer and the VGA end into the old monitor. Would it work? For eight bucks I was willing to try.
RESULT: It worked perfectly. Nothing needed downloading and installing. No blue screen of death. I connected my old monitor to my new computer, turned the computer on, there was a “beep”, and there was my Windows 11 home page. Colors were good, resolution was fine, the image fit the screen perfectly, nothing needed adjusting. Truly – Plug and Play.

Purchased this for my son, so he could take an old pc monitor to use with his xbox at a friend’s house. Didn’t work at first but lowering the Xbox’s output resolution did the trick for the old monitor. Cable works great and is of high quality.

When I started looking at a replacement projector system for my church found that I needed to use both HDMI and video ports on my desktop computer to even try it. Since one port is HDMI it wouldn’t use it, I needed a converter to trun it into VGA, which works. So I found this cable, bought it here and installed it. As I’ve moved to my home office I’ve purchased many products, and have come to expect products manufactured with the cheapest materials available to boost profit margins. Opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was produced with quality materials and seems to be sturdy and well-made. Although I am no aficionado of electronic products and materials, this plebeian is pleased.

As far as using the adapter, It was easy to use and stays connected as I move things around from sitting to standing desk. I’ve no complaints.

I purchase several things on Amazon, and was giving pretty in-depth reviews. From this point on, here’s the new agenda…. if it works as advertised, is well made, meets or exceeds the description, is a value, and arrives in a fair amount of time, it will get a “star rating” equal to what my expectations were/are. If it doesn’t meet these criteria, then I will most definitely and descriptively tell the short comings of the products and you as a consumer will not have to go through the trouble of buying the product without some background knowledge. If the sell pulls that item and relists under another description I will put the exact same review on the seller’s feedback page. We have a splendid and expensive (back then) VGA screen but with no HDMI plug! New Dell: no VGA just HDMI.
