Product Description
It’s true—babies grow up fast. From cooing to sitting up, crawling to walking, and talking for the first time, babies go through a lot of changes. And that’s enough change on their own. But when you add breastfeeding to the mix, it presents a new level of difficulty. Instead of bottles and formula, your baby’s diet now consists of you. So how do you store breast milk? The last thing you want to do is hand your baby an already-spoiled bottle of milk. So, how do you store breast milk? Breast milk, like breast milk storage bags, must be used within a certain time period.
Facts About Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags, 50 Count, 4 Ounce
No, they don’t connect to any kind of pump. There are Medela bags you can purchase for pumping directly into, but the are so stiff and not user friendly at all. You have to use a special adapter to get the bag onto the pump and it’s difficult. I love the lansinoh bags the best.
These bags are single use and are supposed to be thrown away. There’s no way to “re-sanitize” them, so to speak.
I do it that way. i use tape to attach the tops of the bags onto the pump. i pump both sides at the same time.

No they dont come with adapters to pump into. I prefer to pump into bottles.
These bags won’t connect to any pump. You’ll need to pump into a bottle that connects to your specific pump, but you can store in these, and Lansinoh brand bags are some of the best on the market for secure sealing and longer storage.

I have the spectra breast pump and pump directly into these bags with the maymom pump adapter.
Flexible bags should NOT be put into curbside recycling bins. Any flexible bag that is polyethylene (#2 or #4) goes with plastic bags back to the grocery store, like a Ziploc (if clean and dry). Check out plasticfilmrecycling.org

The bag says “Pre-Sterilized Medical Grade” so you don’t have to do anything before using it, once used it has to be disposed off
The bag has markings up to 6 ounces, but I often out more in there. (Just be careful not to put too much if you are planning on freezing the milk in the bag)
Hi Jodie Ewing. Thank you for your question. Our bags only work with our pumps if you want to pump directly into the bag. If you were to use another pump, you will have to buy a pump adapter. However, our adapters are not compatible with Spectra S2 pumps.

Hi Camilla. Thank you for your question. That is correct! You can pump directly into our breastmilk storage bags using our Lansinoh Smartpump. If you want to see a video on how to attach it, please click this link: https://www.lansinoh.com/en/lansinoh-breastmilk-storage-bags
I bought the Maymom pump adapters on Amazon that connect the Spectra flanges directly to these bags. The adapters and the Lansinoh bags are a super easy to use combo. Been using both for 6 weeks now and had no issues.
I agree they are different than my last batch, they no longer have the middle opening in the storage bag to pull out the milk bags and I don’t like having to pull of the extra tab. they don’t open as easily either. A medela adapter is not *needed* to use these storage bags. But if you have a Medela pump, you can use the Medela adapter that comes with their storage bags (http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/548/pump-and-save-breastmilk-bags-with-easy-connect-adapters-50-pack).
Info About Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags, 50 Count, 4 Ounce (Reviews From Amazon)
I have been exclusively breast pumping for almost two months now since my son is at the NICU so I need to freeze my milk. After doing some research I concluded that the Honeysuckle bags were the most bang for my buck while being of quality. However, they can get expensive for those who have to exclusively pump like myself. So last week after I noticed I was running out of the Honeysuckle bags I decided to give Lansinoh a try since they are amazons top rated breastmilk storage bag. After I received them I immediately wanted to return. I was not pleased with the bags when I compared them to the Honeysuckle bags. So 2 days ago I logged on to Amazon to do a return. Turns out that they gave me an option to exchange them for the new and improved bags! The edges are now wider and the bag seems thicker! I am so glad lansinoh listened to its customers who had complained about the milk leaking because the edges were too small. I feel that everyone who left a bad review should give these bags another chance now that they have improve them. They are honesty the best quality for the price. I will no longer be purchansing the more expensing Honeysuckle bags because the new lansinoh bags are just as well made if not better! Thank you thank you!
My pump, the bottles I use, and nipples are all Medela, so when I had my first child, I only used Medela bags for the first few months. When I went to the store to purchase more one day, they were out of Medela bags so I had to go with Lansinoh bags. I’m glad I did! These bags are great for freezer storage as they store flat (Medela bags do not store as flat so it’s difficult to store them in the freezer without taking up a lot of space). The material is thick so you feel confident when you put your “liquid gold” in the bags. Now that I’m onto my second child, I will not use a different bag than the Lansinoh bags. I want to feel confident that I will not lose any milk when thawing the bags, and Lansinoh has given me that confidence!
In case you’re curious about the max volume… 10-oz and the bag stays intact even after expansion upon freezing. (Yep there are bubbles in that pictured frozen 10-oz bag, my bad).
I once tried 11 ounces but could not close the bag.
I only freeze 10 oz portions from the morning pump when I have the most milk. In other words, I don’t combine multiple pump sessions into one bag because the milk would be at different temperatures (imagine adding a cold egg into warm soup). One way around this is to bring morning milk and afternoon milk to the same temperature by chilling in the fridge, then, once both bottles are cold, transferring to a bag. I don’t do that often because it’s too painful to see chunks of creamy hindmilk left on the bottle once chilled. I used to store in 3-4 oz portion sizes (I’m still not sure how much baby needs to eat in one feeding since she’s EBF) but why waste bags if I have enough more than one bottles’ worth? Just defrost and pour into 2-3 bottles for daycare/babysitter.
How I freeze and store:
I place the fresh bag flat in a clear shoe box to freeze into a smooth shape while minimizing freezer smells. Once frozen, I store upright in gallon-sized ziplock bags.
I love these bags. I keep reading reviews that talk about leaking. I have had a few bags leak on me but they happened to only be ones that I put straight from the freezer to the counter to thaw when I’m in a hurry. When I put them from the freezer to the refrigerator (like you’re supposed to), I have never had a leak. I hope this helps anyone who’s had problems.
Pumping into the bag saves so much more time
Really durable
I used to use the Medela bags, but hated the expense and the fact that the bags never froze flat. I gave Lansinoh a chan e and learned quickly that I loved them. They stood up easily with enough milk in the bag, they seem to be reinforced and aren’t to stiff that you cannot work with them, They held more milk than the Medela bags, and they froze flat. Well, after last night, I no longer love them. I normally thaw my bag(s) standing upright in a cup in the refrigerator, or even laying flat on a plate. I have never had any issues with leaking bags like I have heard others encountered. I placed the frozen bag in my bottle warmer as I used to do with my Medela frozen bags. Fast forward two minutes and I have that precious liquid gold leaking into my bottle warmer. I will continue to use the bags until I find one that works for me, and for the time being, I will have to thaw my bags in advance of needing them in the refrigerator like I used to. Definitely not convenient, but if it saves my milk, it will have to do.
Best storage bag I’ve tried yet. I tried the Madela brand before but was frustrated with how bulky and bulgy they would freeze even when they were lying flat in the freezer.
See pictures, the two brands have the same amount of milk in them but the lansinoh is MUCH more flat and that makes it easier to store. SO much easier. Note, they were both laid to freeze in the same way.
Also, I love the extra precautions lansinoh takes for cleanliness. Before filling with milk, they are sealed around the top and you remove that to open. The madela does not have this.
No issues with leaking as of yet.
Would recommend for milk storage for sure!
I love these- I have a bit of an oversupply of milk (purposely), so I freeze breast milk a few times a week.
I’ve never had any issue with the bags not holding up in the freezer. I only put 6oz in each bag, as the company suggests, and I leave a tiny bit of air in the bag for expansion- no explosions in the freezer, ever. I wouldn’t want any of that precious liquid gold wasted!
The bags have lable at the top of the opening of each bag where you can write when you froze the milk and how much. I like that this is at the top of the bag and not on the middle- much easier to read when looking to thaw out the oldest milk first.
Love these bags, will continue to purchase.
I used this brand for both of my kids, expecting #3 and still plan on using them. I kept track with baby #2, I used about 800 bags and I never had a problem with leaks like I’m seeing with other reviews mentioned.
I never stuffed to max. I would fill to different oz so I could mix and match them for what I needed down the road, nothing more than 6 oz though in a bag. I would freeze them flat. Once frozen, I stored in your classic paper gift bags. Cut my own little slip in the bottom on one shorter side so I used the oldest milk first that was at the bottom without taking it all out each time. So much cheaper than other storage options. Again, out of the 1500 bags between my two kids, I did NOT have a problem with leaks. Will be using these for baby #3!
Conclusion
In summary, the Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags (BPA-free, food-grade plastic) are the ideal protection for breast milk. They are lightweight, durable, and have a patented venting system to prevent spoilage. The bags are stackable and resealable for long-term storage in the refrigerator or freezer.
