I worried about that also. The plate that stick to your phone is not magnetic. The magnet it’s self does nothing to your phone. I drive with my GPS going all the time as I travel for work. No issues at all. I just bought 2 more for my cars at home.
The disk that attaches to your phone (or phone case) is not magnetic. My phone charges fine on the car charging surface.

Stick on dash version has turning left or right with a click for position plus tilt in many directions. I use this for GPS or landscape and portrait orientation switching for my phone.
I love these WizGear products and there are much cheaper and not so good knock-offs. Stick with WizGear is my suggestion.
Maybe. I have a life proof case and I can tell it sticks to the magnet with less strength than my friends phone. They have a thinner phone case.
It fits my Ford Escape which have vents going up and down. I’m sure it will fit any vent. If not return it.
I certainly haven’t tested it, but the magnets on these are very strong. I’m 95% positive that they will wipe the magnetic strip data from your credit cards.

I ditched my wallet case to use this mount because a good car mount was more important to me than having my cards attached to my phone. I got a small business card case that works perfectly for my credit cards and ID, and is slim enough that I don’t feel it in my pocket. The cards kept falling out of my wallet case, anyway.
I wouldn’t go back. I’m very happy with it. Just make sure you clean the back of your phone really well before you stick the metal thing on it.
Keep the credit cards and ID away from it.
I don’t know what an iPhone Xmas is but I’m sure it will.

I am opening the package and giving them to 2 individuals. Put in a small bag or for Christmas a stocking.

The prong on the back of the magnet is like a plus. One cross is wider then the other for different thickness of vent wing. Its rubberized so slips on and hold well. I love these things.
It should.
I have 6s plus and it’s fine
yes it does I have an iPhone 8 It will work with any phone – it has a metal flat piece that affixes to the back of your phone and then connects as it is magnetic. Awesome item
I have an iPhone 7 plus. It holds it my phone really well. It will lean foward a little if I don’t rest the bottom of the phone against the dash. I drive a 2015 corolla as my every day driver. However, I have a 2006 Scion XB and it won’t work on THD vent. The vents are designed different. I love it!
Info About Magnetic Phone Holder for Car, WixGear [2 Pack] Universal Air Vent Magnetic Phone Mount for Car, Car Phone Holder Mount for Cell Phones and Mini Tablets with 4 Metal Plates (Reviews From Amazon)
Very strong magnet. Basically, they give you a metal sheet that you put in your phone case that you use to magnet-stick it to this mount on your car.
The metal sheet is thin and soft, so it won’t scratch your phone or add bulk. There is even adhesive if you don’t have a case.
Tip: If already using a case, don’t remove the adhesive sticker, so if you switch cases next time, you can still reuse it!

I ordered this product for myself because I saw a more expensive brand of the same product in my friend’s car and I thought that it was a clever and cheap option to display my iPhone 6s Plus in any car. After owning it for two weeks, I have come to love the simplistic concept and convenience. All I need to do is drop my phone on my vent and go. The magnet is very strong and the metal card isn’t even noticeable. I love it so far, but there are a few things I have to say about the WizGear magnetic mount after a couple weeks of using it:
First, a helpful tip I learned is to place the inside metal plate in a vertical position in your case. I’ve attached a photo to demonstrate the position. After a few trips in the car, I figured out this position of the plate puts your phone in the most table position for your phone because it uses the entire plate ad leverage against your phone. With this way, your phone is less likely to swing upon the mount, or fall.
Second, for an iPhone Plus or another larger phone like the Note, this product will hold it, but it can be less stable in your car depending on your case thickness and material. For instance, the piece that attaches to your vent has a matte rubber finish that works best with some cases(like a plastic, rubber, or thin cases) and not with others(like a thick case, or a cloth material like leather).
Third, if your case is too thick you can use a rubber adhesive card holder and place your adhesive metal plate in it to stick closer to the magnet. However, make sure you don’t use any cards in this with it because the magnet will erase them. I found these card holders free at my college and can be found for less than a dollar in any department store.
Overall, this is a very convenient and quality product that does what it says it does. If this review was helpful, let me know with a helpful vote.
Been wanting to buy one of these for years. I’m not into the whole pop-sockets and things that you glue to stick to your phone cover to even on the outside of your case. I like a clean look and I like my phone in my pocket. So getting something that wouldn’t protrude from the phone was a must. I was skeptical of the magnet strength but when I got it installed was very pleased. I also didn’t want to stick or glue anything to my car so something that hooked to the air vents was a must.
I read the reviews and one said to take the piece that sticks to your phone and just place it between your phone cover and the phone itself. You can peal and stick it to the back of you phone but if you ever change phones you’ll need to use another sticky pad. It might slide around a little but I used the larger pad and don’t have issues with where to put on the car mount. The installation of the car mount it pretty easy. Depending on your air vents it may work out to be in the perfect spot or not. For my car it’s in a great spot. The car mount also seems solid and in place.
Overall it’s a great way to get your phone up and in better sight if you need GPS or any music controls. That’s pretty much what I use it for. For the money this also seemed to be the cheapest option. In all pretty happy with this purchase and would highly recommend.
Update 5-13-19:
So over a year later and this is still a great product. I even put one of the mounts in my wife’s car. It’s quite different that my car and the vent is at sharper angle but nonetheless still works good. I bought a new car this year and it still fits well on the vent. I use it just about ever time I get into the car. It’s very handy to use and much safer if you need to use your phone. I even switched phones. I did stick the magnet that goes on the phone onto the inside of the phone case. If you change cases you’ll have to remember to take it out. But you could, just as I did before, put the magnet between the case and the phone. I stuck it to the case because the magnet does move and I feel like I could easily remove (if I remember) it when or if I change cases. I still love that there is nothing sticking out from the phone the magnet is really strong. Highly recommend this as a cheap and easy way to mount your phone in your car.
Pros: magnets are extremely strong and hold your phone well to the clip, great product and works exactly as expected
Cons: NONE!
Notes: depending on the car you really need to make sure the location of your vents are in a good spot for these, also that they will fit the vent well enough to hold the phone. Like my 2016 kia optima it fits perfectly and is in a good location to view the phone when driving, but with my 2004 subaru forester xt the vent is much lower, so it makes it harder to look at the phone and pay attention to where you are going if you have your GPS on.
I really love this magnetic phone mount. I bought 1 pack for my husband and I to use on each of our cars (1 pack comes with 2 of the larger magnets that would stay in your car on the air vent and 4 of the slim magnets that would stick to your phone). I have been looking for a phone holder that does not stick to the dash and is not a huge bulky holder that is an eye sore and gets in the way when you install it. This mount is very discreet and has a very strong magnet to hold your phone. My husband and I both have Galaxy Note 8’s and we haven’t had any problems with the magnet strength. The phone stays in place when its placed vertically or horizontally. We really love the ease of just touching the phone to the magnet when we want the phone held and the ease of grabbing it off the magnet when I need to. The only suggestion I would have for this product is for the magnet to be able to “pop out” in a sense and tilt like a tv wall mount so that you can tilt the phone at an angle and have more control over the direction the phone faces. Other than that, great product. As for the magnet piece that can stick on your phone, we just placed the magnet between the back of our phone and our phone case, we did not stick it to the phone, our phone case is tight enough that the magnet stays put and doesn’t move at all. Works perfectly.
I seem to go through vent phone holders a lot, so I was excited to see this sold as a pair for under 10 bucks. I was skeptical about the magnetic mount but it works great so far!
I slipped the rectangular metal plate in between the phone and the case with no issues (I have an iphone 6S and a caseology skyfall case). I did not have to use the adhesive, it is snug between the phone and case.
The case is clear on the back so you can see the black plate, it would be nice if the plate had a were silver finish to match the phone.
The phone stays on the magnet really well in horizontal and vertical viewing. I haven’t hit too many bumps at speed yet, but it seems solid. I haven’t noticed any ill effects of the magnet on the phone.
Love this product. It’s so simple – stays on the dash nicely. The metal plate on your phone is thin. The fact that the magnet isn’t on the phone itself I feel is better for the phone. If you have a phone cover – you don’t even have to stick it to the phone. Rather just insert it between your phone and cover. The magnet is very strong and should hold.
Ordered and received within a few days. Easy to use. I attached the circular magnetic pad on the out side of the case of my iPhone 8 S. I have a love handle on this case also and the magnetic circle fit above it under the camera lens. I have Bluetooth in my vehicle so making and recieving calls isn’t an issue. I wanted this device so I could still see if I receive any text messages and also for my waze app when traveling. I am very pleased so far with this purchase. My husband drives a classic 1996 mustang so he needed this to answer calls in that vehicle. Loved that it was inexpensive and came in a two pack. The magnet holds the phone with no slippage or turning of the phone. It does get ice cold due to the air conditioner running but I don’t think this will harm the phone. ( at least I hope not).
These magnetic mounts are the ones you want. REALLY! I had a Wizgear Mount 3 years ago and it was going strong for 2 years before it somehow came unscrewed, and I couldn’t find one piece of it. I immediately ordered another mount that looked almost identical from Amazon. It did not have a strong enough magnet and my phone would fall off right when I needed it the most for directions. This is a STRONG MAGNET. MY phone has never fallen off (iphone 6) as long as I make sure the metal plate in my phone case (otterbox) is close to the mount. I use my GPS every day to navigate through traffic and this thing is a lifesaver. It is little, discrete, and effective. It sticks very firmly to my air vent so I am able to pull my phone off of it easily without removing the mount accidentally (something that was a problem with the other brand I tired). This thing is great. I bought the double pack so that we can have one in each of our cars. This is the air conditioning phone mount that you want….of at least it is DEFINITELY the one I want.
I gave this 5 stars not because it’s perfect, because it isn’t, but because it’s just so easy to use, so versatile (it comes with sticky tape, but I don’t want it to be a "permanent" installation), and so cheap. I wanted it for GPS driving directions, and with this little gadget I can use it for navigating as either the driver or the passenger. I’m currently using one of these as a driver in a Ford F-150 truck. The choices for air vents are not optimal. If I put it on the one to the right of the driver, I knock the phone off when I shift gears. If I put it farther to the right, to the left of the passenger, then it swivels around every time I go around a curve and I have to bring it back to face me. Also, it’s really too far to tell what’s going on with the phone.
So I ended up putting it to the left of the driver near the window. That cuts off cool air on hot days when the sun comes in that window, but everything else is good. I managed to install it in such a way that it doesn’t swivel, and the phone gets braced against a knob underneath (lights, I think – which don’t come into play as often as shifting) so I can easily touch the screen if I need to. I can see directions if using Google Maps, and I can also easily see who’s calling or texting.
We also have a Prius, and I’ll come back later to update this after I have used the gadget in that car.
