I had to return the 55" I bought it for and wound up getting a 60" (65 lbs) to replace it. I have no qualms about using it with this. Unless you mount it off center, I don’t see why it would matter what size the tv actually is as the load should be distributed the same. As to the comment about the tv moving easily, I felt the mount was too stiff as received and loosened the lock nuts to lessen the force applied to the tv frame when moving as you can apply quite a bit of leverage pushing or pulling from the edge of the screen. Also, a friend is not really needed to bolt the mount to the wall, but would be very handy when lifting the tv onto the mount.
Yes. MD5231 is a wall plate extension. If your studs spacing is within 18" to 24", MD5231 can work with 16" wall plate to make TV center. Anyway, the best solution is to measure studs spacing before purchase to ensure compatibility.

No experience with Sony – we installed a ten year old 55" Samsung without any problems although I would advise getting some help! The mount coupled with the TV is somewhat heavy and a little awkward! Good luck!

This is just what you want if you’re looking to wall mount your big screen TV. I’ve been using this type of mount for years. And, hear me, this is important…this unit comes assembled. Just take it out of the box and it’s ready to mount. No assembly required.
The good. It’s well made. It can be mounted by one person…if you are experienced. It articulates easily and over a range that exceeds the mount I’m using now. All the parts are there…
The bad…nothing.
Just remember to predrill your studs before you try driving the lag bolts that are used to secure the mount to the wall. And, you should use the outermost holes on the mount…they’re 16" apart and that coinsides with the distance between stud centers.
A word of caution…if mounting to drywall, you should always find the studs, and then this mount should be screwed to the wall studs. Your TV might not seem as if it weighs much, but it can creat a lot of force when it’s pulled away from the wall, and unsupported drywall will not handle the forces generated by moving and adjusting your TV over and over.
Just my observations. Buy one.
Versatile articulating panel TV bracket puts your TV exactly where you want it! Get the viewing angle right whether you tilt the TV down or aim it to the left or right for the best view.
I found this to be a quality, solidly constructed, articulating wall mount for my 55" TV. This model is designed for wall studs with 16" centers. Studs further apart require a different model.
CAVEATS:
1. Drywall alone will not provide adequate support. The mount itself is heavy and built for large TVs and an overkill on a small TV.
2. Centering on a wall. If mounting on wood studs with 16" centers, you may not be able to place the mount exactly where you want. The mounting frame itself is approximately 17". Centering may require additional materials.
3. Try to obtain a mounting template from the seller before purchase to avoid a return.
It can also be mounted on solid wood or concrete. I mounted mine on cultured
stone, which is made from concrete. It is not real stone.
Mounting on concrete requires a "hammer drill" and hammer drill bit for concrete, so an investment in equipment may be required. Tapcon concrete screws can usually be screwed into the drilled holes and provide strong support. It is much easier to attach to wood wall studs with wood screws. Studs may not, however, always be exactly 16" apart.
It will take two people to lift a large TV onto the mount. Much of the wiring could be done before the lift. Since the mount adjusts, you do have adequate clearance to place wiring after the TV is installed.
The mount is very compact and is inconspicuous. The TV moves freely to tilt up or down, or side to side. The more it is adjusted, the more wall clearance is required, thereby requiring you to pull the bracket forward.
The instructions are excellent. Parts for installing various TVs are provided. A free HDMI cord, a level and assorted spacers are included. A template is also provided to mark where fasteners should be located.
This was easy to install, it took about 30 minutes. Make sure you have a stud finder (be it a strong magnet or more fancy electronic stud finder) and drill handy. This wall mount extends about 2 feet from the wall swivels and tilts sufficiently to have it anywhere on the wall and view be angled for good TV viewing. Even though I had an idea of how much more space it would free up under and around the TV it was still a bit shocking to see everything clear and up off the ground. The benefit of being off the ground, would be stopping the leading cause of preventable death, stubbing your toe. The screws on the bottom prevent it from sliding horizontally when adjusting the TV. I will be buying another one of these for our bedroom TV, 10/10. A+.
The brand name says it all! I mounted my 2010 Panasonic Viera 50" TV which weighs a ton in about 40 minutes of the package arriving at my door. This thing has many many adjustment capabilities and feels absolutely solid!
Never even opened the instruction book. Didnt have to. The entire mount is pre-assembled. Its nothing more than making sure your studs are 16" on center, finding the stud you want to start with, mark center of the stud where you want to mount at, drill, insert one screw and snug to make sure the bracket will not move on you, level the bracket, mount opposing screw snugly, drill 2 bottom holes, insert the screws and tighten every thing up and mount the TV. Your done!
Look no further, at this price and the outstanding quality, you will not be disappointed!
I was suprised with all the hardware this comes with. It came with multiple metric bolts for different thread sizes for different TV’s. It comes with everything you need. As long as you mount it to a stud its not going anywhere.
Fit my Samsung 55 perfectly. The directions are easy to follow and straight forward. All the necessary hardware was included and the bracket itself is every bit the quality of the name brands they sell at the big box stores for five times the price. Leveling and tilting the unit was a cinch.

Update: After several months of use, this bracket continues to impress. It hasn’t loosened in the slightest. Even had compliments from a couple of friends that install professionally.
I just installed this mount. Back surface was concrete/ stucco so no delays in locating studs. Once I had located my drill and bits and screws, took me maybe 15 minutes to get TV up. The install was very easy for 1 person with some experience. I was previously using a $400 sanus mount which worked great but I replaced it because 1) it didn’t fit newer TVs because too narrow between TVs bracket holes and 2) I needed to be able to put up the TV and take it down during summer rain storms without assistance and the 8 year old Sanus which had held 3 prior TVs was incredibly heavy and was a 2 person job. Anyway, this Mount feels real solid and seems like a steal for the price. Good smooth motion and even has vertical tilt. The bolts to attach to TV were varied and fit my cheap 55 Roku tv (florida is tough on outside TVs). I can’t comment on the mounting hardware because I always just buy tapcon kits for concrete and heavy hardware for other installs to avoid hardware issues. Honestly I cannot think of any way to make it better except maybe some attachment for a center speaker. Attached are photos of my old sanus, the panel installed on the wall, tv mounted with cover ordered on amazon, and back of tv mounted.
One thing important to mention is that each TV has different heights at which the bars are attached on the back of the TV. So it is important – BEFORE measuring and mounting the plate in the wall – to attach the bars on the back of the TV to determine the height at which the TV will rest on the mount. The Roku mounts near bottom of TV making the TV sit higher on the wall so I had the lower the plate on the wall from where my old Panasonic had been mounted.
I’m just now getting to reviewing this product as I felt more people should know just how high quality this wall mount is.
You can put a lot of weight on it and still have no fears or issues with it’s full articulating motion.
I have a pretty massive thermaltake pc case mounted into a couple studs using this mount and it’s be solid for the last 7 months.
Having a PC on the wall not only looks really cool it’s extremely functional as you save a lot of space not needing to be taken up on your desk.
Most people shopping for this will be mounting a TV on their wall and anyone wondering if they should get it, they just should. This pc is far weightier than any modern tv and will have no issues as long as you mount it properly
This comes with a leveler as well as a piece of paper that allows you to easily plan out where you’ll be drilling your holes into the stud.
I’d highly recommend this to anyone especially at such a fantastic price. It comes with very high quality stud bolts/screws and is completely metal so it’s very sturdy.
My beloved Panasonic Plasma finally bit the dust, so I got an LG OLED 55″ on sale at BB. They wanted $140 for a mount that only tilted.
I got this from Amazon and installed it this morning.
This is a solid piece of kit. It has very smooth motion and there are plenty of adjustments to make sure your TV is perfectly aligned. Tilt, front back, tilt side to side, left right, and forward backward. Because of our builder, we have 18″ studs, because of the range of motion, we were able to center the mount on one stud with two lag bolts and use 65 lbs. drywall anchors (4 of them) to secure the unit.
Being able to pull the TV out, away from the wall, is super handy when adjusting the tilt and rotation and installing the various cables. The movement is smooth and the whole thing seems solid as a rock.
For the price, I am super pleased.
First time buying a wall mount bracket. When I got the idea I was at Best Buy and noticed a mount that I thought would work in the location I was considering, with the need to be offset due to a sub panel and still have the TV cover the sub panel yet be able to easily access the sub panel. On a short closet wall, space was limited as was mounting options. The mount at Best Buy was 299.00, they had another for 249.00. That almost put me out of any thought to use a wall mount bracket as the TV cost was not much more than that for a 50" Samsung I’d picked up at Walmart on clearance.
Got on Amazon and saw similar style mounts at much cheaper cost! This one had particularly good reviews and was one of the least expensive so I gave it a try. The wall I wanted to mount it on was ~6′ in length with a sub panel just about in the middle at about picture height up from the floor. My though was having a bracket that could mount from either side of the panel and have enough side to side adjustment to still not only cover the sub panel but center the TV in this area as well. After much measuring and playing with the bracket I found it would do this, but my stud layout wasn’t optimal mainly due to the sub panel being mounted to the stud on the side I’d really needed to start at and the cover plate and wall mount bracket securing to the wall would overlap. Then I got the ide to mount the bracket above the panel and lower the TV on the TV part of the wall mount brackets.
The Sub panel was nearly 16" tall, I ended up mounting this wall mount directly above up, just clearing the cover for it. Put the TV brackets on to where it lowered the TV as low as possible and mounted it. This allow the TV to nearly cover all but about 3" of the sub panel at the bottom and ended up being the best location for viewing at is was to be viewed from bed, so laying down, I like the TV mounted a bit higher on the wall. I’ve got a sound bar coming that I’ll mount directly below the TV which will be plenty to completely conceal the sub panel.
As for the bracket, I found it to be extremely rugged and versatile. plenty of screws, spacers and various hardware that I didn’t need anything more than what was in the box. It’s such a nice mount I’m going to order a second one and wall mount my living room TV.
