I purchased this item back in September 5, 2012, and the description said 50. And yes, I got 50, and pretty much all of them are good. The spindle itself was broken in the borders, but the DVDs were OK, so I did not bother to return them.

this is dvd+r and if your recorder supports dvd+ it will works if it doesn’t it will not work. some recorder only supports either – or + or – and +. check the brochure of your recorder.

Don’t know. I burn mine to play on blu-ray and dvd players. At work we use Dell laptops and the disks work fine–I had tested before lending a dvd to a co-worker. I use AnyDVD to burn, so don’t know about fab.

For recording, it has nothing to do with Windows or Mac. You just need a compatible DVDDL Burner and a supported Burning Software.

In that case, the easiest way is to try to play any commercial DVD movie feature that is about 2 hours or longer, which will all but guarantee that it was recorded in a Dual-Layer DVD. Another giveaway is that the capacity of that disc (not space available) is in the neighborhood of 8.5 GB.

I don’t know what the previous answer is referring to with "third-rate manufacturer". I bought 2 of these bad boys already, and there is nothing third rate or shoddy about them. In contrast, I also bought 50-count Kodak media at the time to cover my basis with this dark horse of sorts, and at least 1 of every 3 discs failed. Mind you, I have professional tools to verify my burns.

To answer your question, the real easy way to find out is to borrow a DVD DL from a acquaintance that has recorded stuff successfully, and try recording something on it using your computer.

They are double layer, hence the DL in the name. The amount of time depends on what quality you want. Four hours of Standard definition video will fit with no problem.

I see negative comments for double layer disks all the time and most people don’t know that there is a sharp divide on brands. NOT so much on the bands of the disks, but the combination of the brands of the disks and the brands of the burners. I’ve used these disks for years without hassle in both my LG and Plextor drives. Other disks, from high quality brands, have failed. Before I had these two drives, I had others and some brands worked fine (including these) and some didn’t. You won’t really know without trying them. But you also need to make sure you have the latest driver for your optical drive and a computer that can handle high data flow.
Also, you must take GREAT CARE to not overload the databus with other computer operations when burning double layer disks. Opening up video files and other high demand operations can cause a good combination to fail too.
I suggest you get one package (possibly a package of 3 disks), use a good burn program, and have nothing else open during the burn (don’t go checking your email, downloading files, etc. until the disk operation has completed. IF you have problems then, you don’t have a good combination, try a different brand of disks (which is easier to change than the optical drive). I can do video capture during my disks burns with these disks. But I know other operations that do cause errors. I’ve burned several hundred of these disks and have ordered more.

Needed to write the new version of Windows 10 20h2. Single layer is too small. These are dual layers so you have more space. After creating a bootable Windows 10 disc it works perfectly.

I’ve only used 3 of these so far, but my success rate has been 100%. All burned first try and all were able to load without incident on the target machines. I think my burner is a Lite-on brand that I bought here on Amazon for around $25 last year. The target machines had either Dell, HP or generic no-name DVD drives that are several years old.

Hopefully my luck will hold out for the rest of them, though it might take me years to find out. Probably my biggest complaint is that they don’t come in a 10 pack since I don’t use them very often any more.

Great product, seems well made but it will be a decade or more before you can ever determine if the media will develop the dreadful “laser rot” which is a colloquialism for when the glue binding the sandwiched layers of the disc start to corrode and oxidize and render the disc useless. But so far so good – my trusty old Epson Stylus Photo R200 prints directly onto the discs without issue, and even high-res prints that saturate the disc with a lot of ink look fantastic. Hopefully they’ll last a good long time. This is my go-to brand now.

I have gone through about 35 of the discs without any problems whatsoever and they play fine on my Blu_ray player and DVD player. As far as longevity, I really won’t know for years to come. I think most of the people who have problem with discs, blame their problems on the discs when it’s usually the burner or the burning speed.

update: I ran into a problem with a 2nd batch that failed at the layer break every time. These guys are fantastic and they refunded the purchase price. I can’t say enough about how quickly they worked to solve my problem.

Have had before. They all worked. No bad discs. Work great when used in computer. Will not record on DVD recorder /player. Have DVD/VHS recorder and player and DVD recorder player different brands. Will not record on DVD+RDL. Big block comes up can not record on this disc. Put same disc in computer did perfect job. The double layer (they say) give better picture. A lot of the movies are on DL. Some like 007 ( I was told longer than two hours) and to get better picture than standard DVD is why it is used. Standard DVD is 4.7 GB and DL 8.5 so to me that seems right.

At one time I could not get all Verbatin in pack to work. I ordered 20 and about 10 did not work. I took a chance on them over year ago. Glad I did.
