Info About Plantronics – Blackwire C5220 – Wired, Dual-Ear (Stereo) Headset with Boom Mic – USB-A, 3.5 mm to connect to your PC, Mac, Tablet and/or Cell Phone (Reviews From Amazon)
I’ve worked in technology as a consultant for decades which means I’m on the phone every day for hours and hours. I’ve burned through countless phones, headsets, ear buds, and headphones making calls with clients, listening to music while I work, and playing games after work. My first headset at my current company was a Plantronics headset issued to me in 2005 when I started. I also have a Logitech wireless headset at my desk, several Sennheiser headphones for audio work, a cheap Sades headset for gaming, AirPods for my iPhone, a Bose wireless Bluetooth headset, and a large collection of EarPods for when my AirPods die which is constantly. My vast preference over all of them is this Plantronics Blackwire USB headset.
Light weight, comfortable, high-fidelity audio, positional microphone, plug and play, solid compatibility with Windows 10 Pro and my Surface laptop, well-made command buttons for muting and volume, analog jack for use with phones, works great when my Surface is on battery, easy to use all day long, doesn’t require charging.
Works seamlessly with Zoom, Teams, Spotify, and pretty much any app out that implements headphone support. I am very happy with this headset and I’m sure you will be, too.
I picked these up to replace an older single ear set that had seen better days. I’m using these on an HP Elite Book 840 with Windows 10 Pro, build 2004 and O365. These were seen right away with no special configuration needed, they work very well with Citrix Workspace 1911 for Xen Desktop connections with the HDX Real Time Media Engine 2.9 using Skype, Teams and Zoom. A solid product.
I purchased this headset for my Skype business calls at work. They have made a significant difference in both my ability to hear everything said on the conference calls, as well as ensuring I am heard clearly on calls I lead.
I wouldn’t want to do online conference calls without them.
I also love the convenient storage bag, and the way that the headphones fold up, for travel in my laptop carry bag.
I’ve recommended these to my collegues and staff.
Amazing! Buy them and you won’t be disappointed! I bought them to have as a backup when my Plantronics bluetooth headset kept going out after 3-4 hours, these work great and are comfortable, I just wish I had bought them sooner and wish they had them in blue.
I’ve owned this model for over a year, and I just purchased a second one.
This is the most comfortable and best-sounding on-ear headset I’ve ever owned. I’ve worn it for conference calls for over 4 hours at a time with no discomfort at all.
The ability to disconnect the headset from the integral USB sound card and quickly connect it to another device as a 3mm analog audio headset is incredibly useful.
I’ve noticed that muting the microphone on the USB controls improves the sound when listening to music, but note that the bass is lacking. The overall quality for music isn’t up to audiophile standards… but it’s more than good enough for casual listening.
I’ve had many people tell me without prompting that my voice sounds more clear when using this headset.
So much better than the C3220. If you can use this headset and don’t mind spending the extra money, definitely splurge because the comfort is like day and night.
C3220 is the same headphone speakers and mic I’m assuming, although the C5220 does have an active noise filter that does not come with the C3220. Other than that the quality of sound and mic is the same. The comfort is the major difference.
Even after the first day the main enjoyment I get is from the soft padding on the ears and the soft padding and automatic adjusting top headband.
Nothing feels cheap, really well made headset that sounds great and feels great as well! To top it off you can remove the headset portion from the usb portion and have a 3.5mm audio jack to connect to a smart phone or ps4/xbox/google stadia controller for audio/mic usage.
Decided to splurge a bit and get a decent headset for working at home. Didn’t want to spend a ton of money but wanted something with good quality. I recognized the Plantronics brand from work. I opted to go with these. They are excellent! Clear and concise just like I am in the room with the person.
These replaced my 12+yo Plantronics headphones that I use for transcription. That old pair of headphones is still going strong, but the cord recently had an unfortunate encounter with a naughty and unsupervised dog. I’ve had nothing but good luck with this brand and wanted to stick with it, new name and all. I thought my older version was comfortable and had good sound quality. The newer version is off the charts. The sound is good quality and the in-line volume control is an ear-saver. The comfort is amazing. My ears love the soft smoosh that never seems to press down too hard. I wear glasses while working on the computer, and these new headphones fit just right and don’t press the arms of the glasses. I’m in love. I hope these last as long as their predecessor.
I use this headset for teleconference calls, and I’ve been very pleased with the quality of the headphones and the mic, as well as how comfortable it feels on my head. I had used a way more expensive headset from a prominent work-headset maker at a previous company, and that one was much too heavy on my head, causing me pain after a long call. This one has the same level of quality and is more comfortable to boot.
This was the third time I’ve purchased this set of headphones. The first set was foolishly broken be accident, and this purchase was so I could have a set for my new job, while having one at home.
I find the sound quality of these is excellent, especially for VOIP calls, or any audio based communication. My co-workers and I had these, and the voice quality was just crystal clear. You could really tell when someone wasn’t wearing their set, because they sounded off. Very glad these are still available for purchase.
