I don’t see why it can’t sit on the floor since it has a base. So far this has been great! It sits comfortably in the corner of my vanity instead of having to deal with the long power strip, which was always tangling up and way too close to the sink.

Probably, it has two separate surge safeguard buttons, 1 per each pair of 4 outlets. Just be sure the outlet you plug it into can handle that much draw.
go to a local hardware store and buy a multi outlet wall plug that is UL listed. they are like $6-$10. and that way, anything you plug into it will be UL protected.

The media could not be loaded. I have had all of my computer components plugged into 3 surge protector power strips that have been located under the desk behind a drawer and under a shelf that is above the drawer. Every time I had to move a plug or replace a peripheral, I had to pull out the drawer and climb over the shelf to get to them. There reason for having 3 power strips linked together was that many of the plugs were over-sized and covered 2-3 of the outlets.
With this power strip, every outlet can be used. Since the product description and included documentation does not mention a joules rating for surge protection, I am assuming this unit does not provides surge protection, but it does automatically shut off if the wattage through it goes over 2500 watts. For my purposes, I plan to leave one surge protector power strip under the desk that I will plug this power strip into. This unit is kept on the shelf above the drawer where it can be accessed very easily.
I also love that this power strip includes 4 USB ports to charge tablets and my phone without having power cables running across my desk to plug them into USB charging devices. I like that there are buttons to turn off either the USB ports or either set of four outlets, but I don’t think this would be necessary unless you might run over the 2500 Watts of power. If you were to use this unit in the kitchen for appliances, this may be the only time you need to worry about wattage since many kitchen appliances can use 1000 to 1800 watts of power.
For my application, the 10 foot power cord excessive, but it may be helpful in other applications. My husband saw this power strip when I got it, and now he wants one for his workshop that has a lack of outlets. I guess I have to buy another one for him,.
If I change my opinion of this power strip or have any problems with it, I will definitely update this review. So far, I am very happy with this power strip and have rated it at 4 stars instead of 5 only because the product description describes it as being a surge protector with no evidence of the capability.
UPDATE 8/21/18:
I have updated my star rating from 4 stars to 5 since the seller has notified me that this power strip has a joules rating of 150 joules. He has assured me that he will update the product page to reflect this information. With a joules rating of 150, this power strip provides more protection than many available.
UPDATE 8/27/18:
I have added a second picture to show the new home for this power strip. All of the plugs in it now used to be behind the printer stand plugged into a regular power strip. Now they are all accessible on the desk, and we don’t have to pull out the printer and climb behind the printer stand to get to the plugs. We love this power tower and plan to get more for other areas. I would also like to mention that I have plugged this power tower into a surge protector power strip since the tech specification do not mention surge protection – only overload protection in case you run more than 2500W through it at one time.
I love this product. The plugs are spaced so that you can get the thickest of plugs in each spot. Plenty of USB ports. I agree this would be nice if you were like me traveling with a ton of electronics you have to charge each night. But the tower is a bit big. But it would charge my two phones multiple camera and go pro batteries. If you can give up luggage space it is light. Cord lengths vary depending on which you get but I’ve found both sizes to be adequate and allow me to put this device where I want it. Good purchase
I wanted this for charging my phones and tablets on the nightstand next to my bed. The cord is longer than I need for this particular application, but if I decide to move it, then it gives me plenty of options.
I have had difficulty with other types of surge protectors with heavy cords that wouldn’t allow them to lay flat on a surface, as well as taking up too much surface space, and all those plugged-in cords! The tower design simplifies where I want my plugs and allows easy access to the USB plugs without interference from the regular ones. I plan on replacing some of the old-style power strips I already have with more of these. I also like the small red light, in contrast to a blue one, as it works well in a bedroom at night and allows me to get to sleep.
I bought this to replace a string of extension cords and power strips in my living room. I actually didn’t realize how long the cord was and was very pleasantly surprised at how long it was! I was able to easily stretch it from the wall outlet to where I wanted it about a third of the way across the room. I love having the USB ports and several 3 prong outlets available. I also really appreciate it for the fact that I can turn half the outlets on, while the other half are off. I’m honestly thinking about purchasing another like it for my bedroom to eliminate the power strips that won’t lie flat on the carpet. The standing design is great!
Such a great product! I bought this specifically for a hospital stay after giving birth and it worked out perfectly for all of our devices, and my fan (the most important item in my bag) the cord length made it easy to move it close for use and out of the way when need be. The USB ports are a wonderful feature! It’s a bit bulky for packing, but worth the space if you are constantly looking for more outlets.
No reason to hide this under your desk, this baby takes up little space on your desk, and looks great! I love that the plugs are on each side of the central column, this gives plenty of space for those bulkier plugs that would cover the next outlet on the old style flat power strips and having 4 USB connections just makes this that much more useful. Plus the cord is super long, another bonus. I highly recommend this item.
I have my phone charger connected to it I have my echo show connected to it I’ve got my nebulizer machine connected to it and it is fantastic to have it sitting on the table here accessible to everything in lieu of having an Extension cord with multiple plugs Extension cord with multiple plugs Connected it helps a lot to have the 4 USB ports
This is much smaller that i expected which is very good when you need to conserve real estate on the home office desk. The configuration allows for any size plug to be used, not like straight line power strips.
I like the dual on off switches, some people have stated they didn’t work or didn’t know why 2 switches. well you can turn on and off one half of the power tower if you want or need too. Works fine. it has the reset button on the bottom. You wont have a problem of accidentally turning off the power like with the straight bar power strips. The #1 reason i got this was because of the length of the cord. i just wished the plug was a flush fitting to the wall other that that i highly reccomend this little giant. still give it 5 stars.
I bought this because my husband is so bad at organizing his cords. It is a mess under his desk with computer, speaker, other cords and phone chargers, etc. Now he doesn’t need extra adapter plugs for his chargers because it is built in. He needed 3 charger plugs and that much space has been freed up. There are back plugs for cords he will never need to take out like his computer or speaker. And the front would be used for temporary or easy access use. His desk looks so much neater. There are 2 power buttons is located at the very top — one for the plugs and one for the USB chargers. You do need to push down firmly so it won’t easily switch on and off or accidently be pressed. If you have little kids, it is annoying because my 2 year old loves to push the buttons. He does have a hard time to push it but sometimes he will get it (strong hands)! I thought the actual tower cord itself was a little too short. I would have liked it to be longer, but my husband has a toddler chair under his desk with the tower placed on top of it so he doesn’t seem to have an issue.
I do recommend this for those messy, disorganized, tangled cords and wires. The plugs are well spaced and not clustered like the traditional straight bar power strip. Plus, I love that the power buttons are on top and firm to push and not little red switch that can easily be turned on and off by curious fingers.
This power strip design is heaven sent! My family used to fight over on particular outlet due to its convenience. It houses the foot massager, the heater/fan, AND of course everyone wants to use it for their electronics to be charged. Before something would get unplugged; now, everything stays on place, and the USB ports can charge devices, and various things can be plugged in!!! And it even works wonders sitting on top of the infrared heater.
