Yes. I just measured the opening at the end of the socket when the socket is fully closed. The opening, using just a detailed ruler, is 11/16 (.6875). So it should tighten around an .75 ball

Yes, you can use it on a bike. I have used it on a Harley Electraglide, a BMW K1300s, and a BMW R1200GS Adv. Works fine. But see my review. I think it is more bulky and complicated than it needs to be. You can achieve the same with simpler RAM options. But yes, you CAN use it on a bike.

No, the rubber-coated RAM balls are designed not to slip. In order to rotate any ball or the central pivot, the corresponding wingnut must be loosened first.

This arm is not the best choice for a motorcycle application. I would recommend going with something more rugged like RAM-B-201U.

I have never thought of it as a Fishing Pole holder, but who knows. The reason I haven’t yet bought a 4th Ram Mount configuration is because I only have 3 cars. If the family ends up with another car, I’ll be ordering up another Ram Mount Universal X-Grip IV Phone/Phablet Holder along with the best Ram Mount mount option and extension options for that vehicle.

Look, I’ve tried lots of different options to hold my phone in the car. Some were cheap, and the fact that they either didn’t make the grade or fell apart quickly was to be expected. Some were pricey, but they proved to be limited in what they could do or how well they could do it. Some covered part of the air vent, which created other problems. Some obscured my vision because they weren’t suitably adjustable and had to be affixed front and center.

The Ram Mount system of mounts, extensions and holders is rugged and built well. You can configure these exactly how you want them. They do a great job, and they’re worth every penny. So, stop messing around with lesser, temporary options and simply assemble the pieces you need and be done with it. You’ll have this system years from now, and it’ll continue to be compatible with your newest smartphone or tablet.

I got this arm to replace a short, single control arm, also from Ram.

This arm is so much better. While the single control on the other arm made adjustments quicker, it was harder to handle with everything being loose at once.

With separate controls, tweaking everything to the exact spots I want it is a breeze. It takes a little long to loosen and tighten three different controls, but the added flexibility (literally) makes up for it – and then some. I’m now able to put my devices exactly where I need them, rather than “sort of” there.

My only minor complaint is that this unit isn’t metal like my other arm. It’s really, really heavy duty plastic, so it should hold up, but I would have preferred the uncompromising strength of metal.

I very much doubt this unit will be any more prone to breakage, but these aren’t inexpensive mounts. In fact, this was as much or more than the cost of my metal one. It’s not so much that I feel like it’s made poorly as it is I feel like I’m experiencing cost cutting.

Having said that, I’ve had other devices (not Ram mounts) that used metal of poor quality that ended up shearing off due to being too brittle. So, sometimes plastic performs as well or better than cheap metal. Long term use will determine which is true for Ram. It certain seems well made, despite it’s plastic form.

The inserts for the control knobs are metal, though, so the parts most likely to break are more durable. Assuming you don’t totally abuse the arm, the clamps that go over the ball connections should hold up well enough due to their robust thickness – even under rough use.

The result is, unless the thing actually does break, I’m not prepared to subtract any stars. I’m more disappointed than concerned about it.

Ram Mount products have been making my life easier since I first discovered their products almost fifteen years ago when I needed a solution to securely mount a GPS in a light twin-engine airplane that would not send it flying when the weather got a little (or a lot) rough. This Double Socket Swivel Arm is another fine example of the quality that Ram is known for. I chose this attachment to hold my phone in my vehicle, as well as to provide a better view angle than the standard 3" arm was giving me. It locks down tight and holds my heavy phone in place so I can view GPS information en route. Can’t say enough about Ram Mount products, except thank you for making such great products!!

I needed to mount a 360-degree camera asembly on a mobility scooter. The camera is mounted on the manufacturer’s own selfie-stick.

With the huge array of Ram-Mount components, I was able to build what I needed from this Ram Mount Double Socket Swivel Arm and two bases, one for the handlebars of the mobility scooter and the other to hold the camera selfie-stick.

The resulst is a system that mounts securely and firmly to the mobility scooter handle bar on one end and to the selfie stick on the other. Using the swivel locks, I can position the stick upright or at an angle, makiing it perfect for photography of any kind.

Yes, it’s a fairly pricey solution, but it works and I don’t know of another way to do. I’m just glad Ram-Mount and its huge selection exists.

I placed this in a Kenworth T270 and the original owner added the ball mount to the dash right under the right side of the steering wheel…so This piece allowed me to move it out of the way and can still see my cell phone for GPS. I would absolutely get this again for this reason and also to move something out of the way a little better. Can’t go wrong and it is a RAM branded part, so it goes perfectly with the original set up. Get one if you’re having trouble with the one you currently have and just need to move it out of the way. I am a fan. (STURDY!!)

RAM mount products like this one are great! Very easy to customize, sturdy as the day is long, and there are so many options to choose from!
I won’t buy another mount system again now that I’ve started using these. They’re a bit expensive, to be sure, but I see it as a long term investment. Right now, my tablet is mounted on my current setup, but I can easily put my phone up, or convert for a small laptop, or GPS, or anything I want!
I’ll be investing in more parts so that my phone and GPS are also mounted with RAM mount gear.

Ram mounts have always been a solid mounting system for me. This idea was good but was not executed well. The GPS on my bike vibrated all over the place. Very disappointed in this product.

Does a great job of clearing all the controls and switches while placing my gps front and center on my motorcycle (2012 Kawasaki Ninja 1000). When combined with the clutch clamp replaces the recommended center stem mount that just never was stable enough…loosened and vibrated all the time. The clutch clamp mount was stable but put the gps out in the windstream.

I am commenting on 3 products which, together, make up a suction cup mount for an iPhone 6 Plus or similarly sized device.

I am so satisfied with this purchase that I felt compelled to write a review. The fit, finish, ruggedness, ease of use and price all met or exceeded my expectations. And that’s not easy to do! I’m the type of person who believes in "a place for everything, and everything in its place". This mount allows me to put my phone exactly where I want it while driving and it stays put – period. You should know a couple things if you plan to purchase:
1. this mount is not stealthy – you will notice it, especially when you don’t have your phone in it and also from other angles such as the passenger seat. I would advise trying different locations to minimize obstructing your view. This is not a problem, but it’s something to consider. The advantages to the way this mount is made are the design and material. It won’t break and it won’t move around while driving.
2. RAM makes an excellent product, but ultimately it’s up to you the consumer to make sure you buy the right combination of parts to optimally fit your need. I owe thanks to another reviewer here on Amazon to tipping me off to the double socket swivel arm. I would have otherwise bought the 6" Long Arm (RAM-B-201U-C) but I wouldn’t have been able to adjust the fit nearly as well as I can with the RAP-B-200-2U. Research RAM’s options, understand where and how you want to use it and read other Amazon Reviews. If you do, I have no doubt you will be pleased.

It is a great product. Definitely 5 stars for build quality. I purchased two other mounts before I went with Ram because I didn’t want to spend that much on a Ram mount. Well guess what? Both of those mounts broke! I could have saved my money for the Ram and I wouldn’t have been out the other $50 I spent on broken product.

This thing is pretty much indestructible.

A few things to remember:

1. This is just a piece that you need. You’ll need the other pieces to actually have a mount.

2. This is going to add vibration to your phone. Period. It is going to vibrate more with this longer heavier attachment.

3. This does not "rotate any way you want it." I know that it looks like it does – but it is hard to explain. It is very functional and you can get your phone in just about any position – but it is not completely, "move it however you want."

If I had to do it all over again knowing what I know now – I would still purchase this accessory for my Ram Mount.

Oh – and PS- I am not one of those people that get compensated to give 5 star reviews for free product. I wish I knew how to break into that game. Alas – I had to pay full price for mine.
