No, this will only work with the 1" ball, but in a pinch I guess you could ‘wrap’ the smaller ball with leather or something to give it a similar diameter.
Most folks will buy the bigger ball to put on the phone mount as it’s more secure that way.

Mine uses a Ram Mount bar clamp with a 1" ball on the end. I do not know about any Ram suction ball mounts.

All the time. The RAM "B" sized parts are normally used to hold laptops. In a high vibration environment the RAM C sized 1.5 inch diameter mounts are more frequently used. You would still need a mounting base, tablet cradle and tablet adapter.

Have to say what an impressive product, the Claw bites right down on Anything you clamp it to. Very sturdy, and with the rubber tether even the vibration from my bike doesn’t make it turn like some of the complaints I’ve read about the Phablet phone holder with my 6s plus. Bought the 6" large Aluminum arm also by Ram so it would double for my GoPro to help minimize the vibration in video. You can definitely feel the quality in the whole set up. Very pleased with my purchase. Would buy again, I have tried most all of the others out there and nothing compares to the quality and stability of the Ram. Had it in 2 days as usual with my Prime too,gotta love that.

As I have purchased several components which are used together, I am reviewing them as a group and repeating the review across all. My time with the product is still very short, I can only provide my initial impressions. RAM products are ASTOUNDING! They do tend to be a bit on the higher end of the spectrum for this type of product; however, the old adage "you get what you pay for" definitely holds in this case. The things I love about this group of products:

1 – Once the devices are in place and tightened down, they are stable. There is minimal vibration; and, it does not swivel around when putting the phone in the cradle.
2 – The X configuration of the cradle grip allows for maximum air flow around the phone. My previous phone suffered overheating damage from being in a cradle in the sun for an extended trip. The RAM components not only allow for more air flow but the long arm brings the unit further into the car, just past the rear-view mirror, minimizing the amount of direct sun exposure during the hottest times of the day.
3 – This is the EASIEST cradle I have owned for getting the phone in and out. I have the LG G3 currently.

I currently own two sets of this product. One for each vehicle. The LG G3 with a case is a bit of a tight fit in the phone grip cradle. It is not horrible; but, I have to put it in on an angle then straighten it. I have purchased the larger grip version for the second. It is much easier to get the phone in and out. I have not yet seen a down side to the larger vs normal. I will keep you posted……

Powder coated marine grade aluminum. Big (almost too big) thumb screw assures a snug fit. Easy on, easy off. the spring tension on the one end is nice so it doesn’t fall off while you’re taking tension off the thumb screw to remove the arm. Very nice feature. Well made. Exactly what you’d expect from RAM mounts. Would recommend, would buy again.

Combined with a shorter version of this socket arm and double ball adapter I’m able to elevate and present my cell phone or tablet at just the right height and location for use in my car while driving using the Ram Mount universal cup holder. This system is expensive, but is an industrial/professional approach to the cheap and flimsy "suction cup that sticks to the windshield" or "holder that clips to the car vent" or "holder that glues to the dash (and destroys the dash)" devices that are so useless and problematic. The Ram Mount product line is awesome.

I got this to put an iPad mount hanging from my ceiling in front of my treadmill. I use it in conjunction with a shorter arm and a double ball to join the two. It’s allows me to adjust it to almost any angle so that I can position it exactly where I want it. I then can use the iPad to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc, while I’m running. It takes my mind away from the pain of running. Of course, we all know running on a treadmill is even worse than running outside. Be warned, when using this with an iPad mount, you have to clamp down the ball pretty tight. This is good in that it holds the device securely. It’s bad in that any micro adjustments while running are nearly impossible without first loosening the ball. Of course, I can’t do that while running. All in all, a good buy.

Like all Ram products, it’s well designed and functional.
You "can" put a lot of pieces together, so watch out how the price can add up!
This arm seemed a little heavier than I expected, since it’s aluminum and not composite.
But I’m mounting a small tire pressure monitor in a cup holder and it looks perfect.

Since I have a GPS also, I don’t want screens piling up on the dash or windshield. Ram has a solution.

This adapter was used to help mount an iPad inside of an ambulance. There are a few different sizes of RAM mounts and mounting arms. If you’re looking for the most secure setup, research the size you need and go one up. Highly Recommend RAM Products!

Love the product, not sure why suction is a field to review it by because it does not involve suction. As far as the security features, it is secure to use, but anyone with hands could simply loosen the thumb screw and be off with it. I have several sizes of these for different applications and they work great. I would buy another if someone decided to make it theirs with a five finger discount.
