Hello, hope this helps. There are no RCA to HDMI and no HDMI to HDMI cables. The only cable supplied was the unit to USB port cable, which was about 3 ft long. You will need the RCA connector cables, the HDMI cable, and a power brick or electric plug for the USB, to make this work.

I am wondering about these responses. They are confusing…
If you have a VHS tape that is 4:3 this converter is going to automatically stretch the image to 16:9?
Or as the other part of the answer said, whatever ratio the original video is in will be the ratio that is seen..

No. This is a one way converter, RCA to HDMI. The same company makes an HDMI to RCA converter that works great and would let you record programs from a device that has HDMI output (cable box, laptop, etc) that can be connected to a DVD recorder with RCA inputs.

This adapts from RCA connectors to HDMI. If your VHS player has RCA connectors on it it should work. It does require AC power though.

Will it work for a N64, it most definitely ‘should’. Will the quality be great, that depends on the monitor/TV your displaying on. If you have a small TV, it probably won’t look to much different than how it would originally look. If you have a big TV with a huge resolution, it will likely look like crap.
I understand the question was just about whether or not ťhe quality was any good, but for those that read Robs answer, I just thought I’d give an answer with more correct info.

Yes it does. Here’s the link to it. I used it for a firestick and a projector that has rca inputs , but sadly no HDMI input( if it did, I would just plug the firestick in directly, lol)

HDMI to Av. You are going from the HDMI player to the old av tv. I haven’t tried this combination. Luck

No it will not improve the picture. It only allows you connect a Wii to a Tv that only has HDMI inputs.

I don’t know what Chromebook is, but if it has RCA jacks, I can see no reason why it wouldn’t work. RCA to HDMI.

All I could suggest is go to your TV’s settings, and check for "auto-sizing" or run the "screen adjust" to make sure your screen is "stretched out" properly, and is centered correctly.

I am using this for an analogue output of a TV digital Converter box to a flat screen computer monitor.
The video pictures are good, though analogue video being very low in frequencies, might be a bit soft looking.

We bought a new Sony smart TV. But we still have a lot of old VHS tapes to play on our old VCR. The new TV did not have the red-white-yellow input. My brother said I needed a converter so I ordered this one. But I couldn’t get it to work. It was not the converter’s fault. It was my almost 80 year old brain that was the problem. After I figured out you have to hook up BOTH of the cables that came – HDMI and USB, my tapes can be played. Yippeee! ABLEWE’s tech support offered me help but I watched enough YouTube videos to figure it out. I am happy with the service and the product.

I bought this converter strictly to use with my SNES and N64. At first the screen was all blue and I thought that either the converter didn’t work or my Nintendo’s were broken. I guess the converter only needed time for it to convert the image 5 min for the N64 and about 30 min for SNES. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get an image or audio right away. Picture comes out in 16:9 ratio considering that Nintendo’s were 4:3. The image doesn’t look stretched out. No lag in audio. My only gripe is the usb/power cable, not long enough.

Received the RVA/HDMI Converter and within 30 minutes had it hooked up and working. Not bad for an 86 year old guy. Am very pleased with this product since I did not want to get rid of my DVD/VHS player and the converter was THE ANSWER since our new TV had no RCA connections. Thanks for this quality product.

Our old flat screen TV had RCA and component video connections (plus HDMI). New TV only has HDMI. This little gadget allowed us to quickly and easily connect the old VHS player to the TV! I have the picture quality a “5” but remember that the quality is driven by the quality of the VHS tape and its resolution. This gadget does not make the resolution any better than what the VHS puts out – which is no better than a 480 resolution (versus 720/1080/4K). So, I doubt that it “upscales” – not for a $12 gadget, but it works perfectly for what I need it to do!

Perfect for classic consoles (PS, SNES, Gamecube, ETC). I kept the resolution to 720p while playing my PS2, 1080p made it blurrier; casting a ghosting effect. Which is expected but at 720p, it is noticeably minimized.

Price is cheap, setting it up was super easy, and the results are solid. Can’t go wrong with this.

I guess it depends on what you use it for. I used it to connect my Wii to the HDTV over HDMI. The Wii obviously doesn’t recognize the upgraded resolution so output is still 480i over the composite video cables.

Overall it looks ok. I’d rate it about the same as composite video. The colors are slightly washed out with the converter set for 720p and a little more washed out with some motion blur on 1080p.

One of these days I’ll break out the Super Nintendo and see what that looks like.

*Update* vendor states the washout may be defective hardware so they are replacing the converter.

I bought this because recently I got a vcr and have been collecting obscure vhs from thrift stores but my tv lacks rca ports and this adapter was exactly what I needed, it was easy to set up and works great.

I personally think the picture quality can be better but for the price and use and performance I am beyond happy, it works fine, and I am enjoying it. Thank you for this great product to relive my childhood.

Bought this to play some N64 on my Roku TV. Apparently the new TV’s don’t come with the comp plugs anymore. I guess we are getting old 🤷🤦. So when the product came in I hooked it all up. Pretty simple, just plug it all in. The USB cord is really short, but I just used a longer one I already had. It took a minute for it to work. At first all it showed was a blue screen. I was bummed out cause I had all my friends over for a Mario kart tournament and I knew I was gonna put the smack down on all these fools. But after messing with the channels and switching out games it eventually worked after about 5 minutes. Not sure exactly what did it but it worked for the rest of the night without any problems. Very clear image for an old school game on a new TV. Overall, I’m happy with the product. Turns out I’m the Mario kart champion. But I am definitely a super smash Bros loser. I got smashed at smash Bros smh.

You simply can’t ask for it to be any easier. Just connect one end to your VCR or other antiquated device using RCA cables, and connect the other end to the device (in the correctly-coloured ports of course — red to red, white to white, yellow to yellow); plug one end of an HDMI cable into the device and the other end into a switch box (or directly into your TV if it hasn’t any RCA cable ports); plug in the small end of the included power USB, and plug the other end into a power source. Take a look at which numbered HDMI port you connected the other end of the HDMI cable and select that number with your switch box; turn on your VCR, press Play (assuming you’ve got a tape in it, ready to go), and you’ve got picture … well. so long as your input is correct on your TV and it’s actually turned on 😉

My suggestion to my Asian (most likely) friends who put products on Amazon — Please befriend/hire a native American to edit your pages, documents, instruction manuals, etc. It only helps us all to communicate better 🙂
