Yes, but I’d be worried about the pole.
The 4100 Joules are the amount of energy from a surge it will protect you from. It doesn’t have anything to do with the size or configuration of the RV, but how much protection it provides. It doesn’t have anything to do with the size or configuration of the RV, but how much protection it provides. The higher the Joule rating, the better protection you have. Don’t know the average energy in a surge. If the surge is greater than 4100 Joules, this device will fail. I generally use mine to make sure the electrical outlet is wired correctly as well as to provide some protection.
It has the female plug on one end & male plug on the other end
50 amp
If nothing else is damaged then it probably came in on cable wire or Antenna if it strikes even near by it can jump to cable system or antenna. If all lights are on on surge protector then it probably came from somewhere else sorry for your loss.
I haven’t tried using this 50 amp surge protector with the adapter. I have both a 30 amp and a 50 amp protector.
yes, it is enough for it
It says in fine print on the device "Made in China"
When I had the issue of power levels dropping, the surge protector shut off the power to my 5th wheel. I was able to go out and restart everything and the surge protector reset itself. It saved me God only knows how much in electrical repairs. I highly recommend this device.
Minimum 30amp maximum 50amp
This is a protector and it will work for a long time. I’ve been using this for over a year and never had any problem.
Yes, it protects high, low and voltage spikes. You should by a plug in voltage meter and monitor the voltage all the time.
Something doesn’t sound right. I’d have to see your hook up. A male plug from the park source should not lead to a male plug into the rv. The prongs could be "hot". If your rv connection is a recessed male, then I could see that being correct. But to answer the question, no not reversible. I would have an electrician check out what you have going on there first before buying anything. It’s probly an easy fix.but I’d have to see it.
it will not cut the power if the voltage goes to low.
You can see the inner components in the images. They are just MOV devices. No detect, shutoff, reset circuitry. It your surge (lightning only is high enough to produce) then the MOV will short. It may blow apart or may continue to function. Best to replace when it smells burnt, like it took a hit.

I bought this product somewhat apprehensively because I was worried I was sacrificing quality for a better price point, especially since I was going to use it as a surge protector for my brand spanking new fifth-wheel. I can confirm that this thing does it’s job! After a week at a campground the electrical box started.. short-circuiting/surging? The power to the RV kept cutting off and on. When I went to the box there were sparks coming out of the female electrical input where the surge protector was plugged in! I turned off the power and fortunately the campground owner had the part to fix the electrical box – I guess it was due for an upgrade anyway (I’m clearly not an electrician 😅)? But all in all I found out way too quickly that this thing does in fact work and protected my RV from having an electrical melt down!
Works perfectly. The electrician next door verified everything and worked correctly. Then he test by making a incorrect connection and it shows a problem. (Note: he did correct the wiring back to it’s original state)
Havent had it but 1 week but no problems in a storm we had….Dont know if we had spikes or not, but all is well
I have only been able to use the surge protector for 3 days but, it is performing as it was advertised. Difficult to know how it will perform with any high or low current but I will continue to update this review since it effects the RV community and I know I would have liked more to go off of when purchasing an item that is protecting such a large asset to me.
It seems to work as advertised. The length of the cable after the surge protection part is very long for your average shore power box. They tend to lay on the ground where you connect the electrical umbilical cable to your RV. If it wasn’t for the fact that it can flood here and that we’re in the downhill side of the water flow it wouldn’t be a problem. I ziptied the two plug ends up onto the outlet to keep it dry.
I’m not sure whether these things are really necessary or not. I’ve never actually met anyone who had some type of a problem because of a power surge at a campground. But I decided to buy one ““ just in case”. You can spend a lot more money and get more gimmicks like being able to tell on your phone how much electricity your rig is using. But again how useful is that information really. So far no surges no blowouts no problems
The price was reasonable. Other units that offered this type of protection were much more costly. I purchased this item because we believe there have been surge problems coming from our power source. We have had several items that run on electricity, that have gone bad in and on our RV.
Wow, I just purchased this surge protector and it saved us from a fire! Due to bad wiring a socket over heated and melted. It did not trip the circuit breaker but the surge protector detected a broken neutral and stopped the flow of power. This is an incredibly cheap device compared to the cost of the possible fire it prevented.
It hasn’t popped yet. So I guess I don’t really know it’s working to suppress surges. But the lights indicate it’s working. I hope it really is!
We are new to RV’ing and have used this now 4 times without issue. I hook up the surge protector first, check the lights and then hook up to the trailer. Much better than the $500 ones at camping world
