They say to go no longer than 48 hours. We did 3 days with no issues. Must be kept in the fridge though.
Yes. 24 hrs after opening and refrigerated after opening.
Though it is probably still good, I would NOT use it after expiration even if it hasn’t been opened. I’m not a doctor but my experience and opinion may defer from what happens. … Yes. 24 hrs after opening and refrigerated after opening.

I did not have to give my child an iron supplement while she used this.
My pediatrics sais only powder formulas were in recall. I myself contacted similac and they verified that rtf is not in recall and is safe to use. So as the nutramigen is recalled we started to get Alimentum rtf. My baby was doing good on Alimentum before the recall.
Depends on how long it’s been in a warehouse, of course, but the bottles I bought typically had 4-6 months before the expiration date.
Of course you cannot do that
Shelf Stable Soy Milk is the same way. If something is closed in a sterile environment-air exposure does create chemical reactions. Pasteurization, Sterile Packaging & Sterile Environment is what helps make milk shelf stable.
That is the thickener used instead of corn. It is better for baby that has a sensitive digestive system. It worked well for us. Some babies cant tolerate corn based formulas. The powder version of this does contain corn instead.

Info About Similac Alimentum with 2′-FL HMO Hypoallergenic Infant Formula, for Food Allergies and Colic, Suitable for Lactose Sensitivity, Ready-to-Feed Baby Formula, 32-oz Bottle (Case of 6) (Reviews From Amazon)
As someone who breastfed my first child for two years, never went near formula, and was militant about “breast is best,” I never imagined I would be grateful for formula. And then I gave birth to my second child.
I exclusively breastfed my daughter until 6 months old. Around that time, she developed severe food allergies, including milk protein, soy, bananas, eggs. In order to avoid triggering her allergies and causing her terrible diarrhea, my diet became very limited, which put my own health at risk as someone who is anemic and was breastfeeding. Having breastfed my son for 2 years, I was willing to tough it out, except that my daughter kept on developing more allergies. It got to the point at which no matter how carefully I ate, she was having diarrhea constantly.
My daughter’s gastroenterologist recommended Alimentum to me as a way to ensure she was nourished with truly allergen-free milk. None of the other brands and types on the market are suitable for babies with severe allergies. I am still breastfeeding, but during the day, I pump and feed her my milk in a half-breastmilk/half-Alimentum mix. That ensures my breastmilk is diluted enough that she does not get a full dose of anything I have inadvertently eaten. Alimentum saved my breastfeeding relationship with my baby and eliminated her diarrhea. She started putting on weight again and I am so grateful.
It feels strange writing a review for formula as a formerly militant breastfeeding mom, but life humbles us sometimes. Good luck.

I will be spending roughly 3600 or so on formula in this boys first year. Expensive? Oh god yes.
But can you put a price on a good nights sleep? On happy baby coos? On the peace and comfort of your infant son?
From my demon monster to my little prince, in 24 hours.
I cried so many frustrated tears before this. And then, within hours after trying this formula on him… I cried happy tears because I could finally remember what silence and rest was. My little boy was sleeping peacefully.
And it’s so convenient to pour!
(He’s allergic to egg, peanut, fragrance, cow’s milk protein, and cats)
Although I wasn’t thrilled to be using a formula that’s sugar based, it was a necessity because of my son’s milk protein allergy. He reacted poorly to all other hypoallergenic formulas, including the powdered Alimentum, but the RTF Alimentum has been great. I wish the powdered formula didn’t contain corn malodextrin so we could use that. The RTF is a little thin so we get A LOT more spit-up but my son has been on this formula for three months and he’s doing great! We were able to get Anthem insurance to agree to cover the costs too so definitely check with your insurance!
Generally the taste and smell of this milk is not pleasant but keep in mind if you make the switch while your baby is still a newborn, their tastebuds are not fully developed until 4-5 months of age. My son was on Similac Pro advance since he was born and breastfed with formula for three weeks, however, when he was three weeks he developed bad colic and gas, seborrheic dermatitis and then eventually eczema . I read that kids with cows milk allergies sometimes develop eczema so that was the main reason I decided to make the switch to this formula. As mentioned my son also had bad colic and he has been able to tolerate this formula much better. He has moved from drinking 3 1/2 oz to 4-5oz with this hypoallergenic formula. Even though it tasted bad to me he seemed to love it!! I am on the second week of using this formula and he is still drinking well but has a little colic and gas still but the pediatrician said that it takes a few weeks to adjust to formula changes so be patient as a parent and discuss everything with your pediatrician. I am happy about the quality of the product from this seller as it didn’t smell as bad as the formula I bought from the pharmacy.
What can I say, I’m sure most first time parents like us went down this formula rabbit hole. My son was born preemie at 29 weeks and 3 days! Long story short while in the hospital that had him taking half breastmilk/neosure. We were finally discharged when my son was 2 1/2 months old. 🙂 Thank goodness the universe made sure our little nugget was perfectly healthy and no major issues. FAST FORWARD. My son is now 5 1/2 months. When he came home my milk supply dropped and dried out. He was 3 1/2 months at this time. We gave him neosure thinking because he was already taking it it would be ok…IT WAS NOT! My poor baby arched, cried, was in visable pain, constipated, projectile vomiting the whole nine! So we went down the formula rabbit hole tried basically everything pro sensitive, total comfort, the list goes on. I reached out to one of his NICU nurses and she suggested Alimentum. While definitely more expensive it was the MAGIC JUICE that returned my baby back to his calm happy self. 🙂 Definitely easier on his tummy and he went from being 3lbs at birth now at 5 1/2 months (3 months adjusted) my baby is a healthy 12lbs 9oz! He poops every other day and is just the happiest baby ever! I definitely recommend Alimentum to any parent out there suffering from the same kind of issues we were faced with after running dry on breastmilk. SHIPPING IS AWESOME since we have it on autoship every two weeks, PACKAGING ALWAYS COMES IN TACT, NO DELAYS! Very happy with our purchase and HAPPY BABY! Thank you ALIMENTUM for brining back our happy little nugget! <3
** SHORTER CHAINS in this formula is the key to making it easier to digest for babies with smaller tummies. Milk based formulas have longer chains which makes it harder for some babies to digest as their tummies are still developing. It’s not as thick as the other formulas, thus we feed my son about 3oz every 2 hours give or take. This will vary with each baby but I do also notice he gets hungry faster than when he was on my breastmilk and neosure. Its also not a high calorie diet like NEOSURE so make sure to discuss with your pediatrician if your LITTLE ONE requires a high calorie diet. <3 I hope this helps!
This formula helped my faughter GI issues tremendously.
It differs from the same exact brand in the powder form(corn as thicknerin powdered version) she can only take the liquid ready to feed. Which has gotten expensive over 8 months. Did not qualify for wic so paying out of pocket.
The worst thing about the similac alimentum ready to feed is the container itself.
Hate it! Despise puncturing wi th the lid, twisting to cut the foil seal, which never fully cuts it, then youre having to try to rip it off holding a crying baby or a baby thats now grabbing at everything 😓
Even worse that it has to be refrigerated and heated to room temp.
The absolute worst part though is that the container leaks all around the lid when u shake it up(it has to be shaken really good). No matter how tight the lid is on milk still manage to get above the foil thats left on edges. Then when u pour into a bottle the milk runs all down the side of the container 🙄 its messy to say the least, but it feeds my baby and has for 8 months now so i deal with it.
Similac, FIX YO CONTAINERS 😂
like even liquid coffee creamer containers are 100x better.
Take note from Nutrimigen rtf formula container please.
Not sure of flavor, baby is too little to know if its good or gross 🤷♀️
Our daughter had to get moved to a hypoallergenic formula due to her milk protein allergy, which was severe enough that the partially broken down “sensitive” formulas weren’t helping enough. We were originally given Nutramigen, which she absolutely hated and would not eat. Luckily, we’ve never had a problem getting her to drink Alimentum, and she’s much more comfortable now. Feeding time is no longer a trial.
3rd baby on Alimentum- this lil guy will only tolerate the ready to feed (different ingredients from powder version). So far I have found that amazon has the best price using prime pantry
We switched to Alimentum because the pediatrician thought our daughter’s reflux may be due to a lactose sensitivity. The powder smelled horrible, but we did see an improvement. Then the recall happened… so we switched to the liquid. This was the best decision we ever made! Our daughter’s reflux is almost non-existent and the liquid smells SO much better than the powder. The liquid also doesn’t leave any residue on the bottles like the powder did. I highly recommend!
FYI buyers this is the new formulated formula with added probiotics. Amazon now ships the new formula with the yellow HMO on the label – not the old one (see pictures). The newly added prebiotic is a good thing but may cause your little one to be more gassy.
Conclusion
In summary, Similac Alimentum, the first 2′-FL HMO halal formula, is scientifically formulated to help meet the nutritional needs of infants who suffer from food allergies and colic.
