This HD Projector from TMY has a 720P native (1280×720) resolution and supports 1080P (1920×1080) Full HD.
The fire stick should connect to your WiFi by itself, the projector doesn’t need WiFi. When you plug in the stick, switch input to hdmi and then setup the stick to connect to your WiFi network.
I used a string and tied it to two trees
Same with us we decided to use our beige wall and it’s as clear as our tv and larger but if you want to use a screen you have to buy one better quality
Yes. We actually used it the first time with a laptop. And also with the fire stick. We have not used with the phone adapters.
They have cords that come with it that hooks to your tv or satalite box I can do it that way but I use my fire stick
Make sure its all level , adjust the lens
I have an Android (not iPhone), and purchased a USB C to HDMI cable, which allowed me to view video and speak with my daughter. Find the cable that connects to your phone, as I said, mine was a USB C, the other end was the HDMI that connected to the projector. For some other Android phones you should find a cable which can connect your phone and transfer it to HDMI.
Google Chromecast works perfectly with my projector. It allows you to screen cast streaming apps from your phone (YouTube, Netflix, etc). Or use another streaming device like Roku or FireStick.
For iOS devices, it is no doubt that a Lightning to HDMI adapter is needed.
For this Native 720P projector, it could be used on Powerpoint, but for better performance, we suggest to use it dim room.
A 4.3 Inch case.
True
I’m not too sure. But you can adjust it to any background
Look at the description pictures. It shows what this can do. It depends on the distance of the projector to screen. 1.5 meters can do 40" and the farther away the project is can get up to 120".
Info About TMY Projector 7500 Lumens with Projector Screen, 1080P Full HD Supported Portable Projector, Mini Movie Projector Compatible with T-V Stick Smartphone HDMI USB AV, for Home Cinema & Outdoor Movies. (Reviews From Amazon)
The media could not be loaded. I am relatively new to projectors. So i am no authority but i have owned one in the past. So take my full review with that in mind. I wanted a 2nd one for traveling and TMY is a new brand but the sub $90 deal enticed me to pull the trigger and buy it.
Review:
Shipping – It came in a amazon box in less then 3 days with prime shipping. They must have orders full filled through them. It was very well packaged with bubble plastic and the black box inside was untouched. The projector is then secured in a foam square. “Ref pic”
So all in all very pleased with shipping 5/5 anything under 5 days now a days is the norm glad to see them keeping it up.
Build – Solid! The minute I took the thing out the foam box Wow it has that feeling of premium quality weight. There is a white hard plastic exterior with a slight Matt finish. With a nice slick top plastic piece by the knobs that adjust picture quality “ref pic”. Remote seems okay not the best but serviceable. If it ever broke there is a manual set of buttons on top. Glad to see an included HDMI and RCA cable.
Overall 5/5 I also have to mention ports!
Native tf card reader is amazing!
Viewing – But FIRST! THE SCREEN! Sorry to derail the review but seriously it’s a simple screen literally says that on the bag. It has it’s own reusable plastic bag it’s a bag its plastic has simple on it for a simple screen.
AMAZING! twist of the knob and it’s in perfect focus. Easy as that it runs a native 720 but the 1080 I threw at it. Stunning sound from the bigger speakers and brighter display. I wish this was around when I bought my first one.
Dont wait! Dont double guess! Get it!
This projector is excellent for the price. I paid $99. (A $20 coupon was available for some reason which brought it down to $99 from $119)
For night-time viewing with no grand expectations you will be pleased.
It got a genuine “wow” from the wife and kids. They’ve watched a few hours on it so far with delight.
We have an Apple TV plugged into it.
NOTE
If you are the kind of person that will fret over non-premium features then you may need to step up to something at least 6x the price (but ideally >20x the price) to avoid triggering your nerves. This is a fantastic budget buy… don’t buy it with the wrong expectations.
SOUND:
Like other reviewers I expected garbage sound quality from the internal speaker and was therefore surprised that it was similar to a half-decent little portable USB speaker. I plan to use external speakers but the internal one didn’t get any negative comments from the initial audience (of undiscerning family members) which is a pleasant bonus. Great to just be able to throw up a movie with almost zero setup.
FOCUS & KEYSTONE:
It has a mechanical keystone. You shift a roller and it presumably tilts one of the lenses inside (probably all-plastic internal components made with the kind of manufacturing tolerances you’d expect at this price point). On the plus side, this mechanical keystone means you can quickly straighten up the image on the wall +/- 15 degrees. However, you will discover that the image cannot be uniformly focused when keystone is being used. If you use keystone you will have to focus the center of the image and tolerate some focus imperfection at the top and bottom of the frame.
The focus is also a mechanical roller. Even at a perfectly level projection angle (i.e. no keystone, where the bottom of the projected image is precisely in line with the lens of the projector) you may need to tolerate some minor focus imperfections. I don’t use any keystone on mine and the extremities are less crisp than the rest of the image. I can notice it when projecting text (e.g. the text at the top-right of the Netflix interface) but it is minor and doesn’t impair the experience watching tv/movies. When I pointed it out to my wife she didn’t care. Nobody cares.
If you buy this expecting optics developed in a Swiss engineering lab with professional grade tolerances you should probably take another look at the price… it’s not than kind of product.
THROW SIZE:
There is no mechanical zoom. We have it mounted on a wall in a room that is 11 feet to the opposite wall (i.e. the *back* of the projector is 11 feet from the projection wall). At this distance our image has a diagonal of ~106 inches.
There is a digital “zoom” function in the menus that let you reduce the picture size… probably at the cost of some fidelity. Good to have that feature in a pinch but we aren’t using it.
BRIGHTNESS:
At 11 feet out the brightness is decent for watching at night. That is all that we want it for. Again, the wife and kids were stoked.
You will probably not want to use it with the lights on (washes it out) and certainly not in any daylight, so don’t buy it to replace an all-purpose TV. Also, don’t try to make side-by-side comparisons with your LCD/LED/OLED TV… contrast in dark scenes will be far inferior and brightness in general will be far less uniform. If you project an entirely “black” screen you will see a range of slightly lighter and darker areas. Again, nobody in my house noticed or cared and I was happy to count the money I saved. To get a projector that will work with lots of ambient light and produce a very uniform brightness you really need to jump a long way up the price ladder. What you get out of this projector is very solid for the money.
MANUAL & ACCESSORIES:
I haven’t tried out the included basic projection screen. It’s a soft fabric with eight metal eyelets around it (one in each corner and one half-way along each side). They ship it with 8 plastic hooks and 8 tabs of double-sided tape so you can mount it on a wall without drilling. It has a black outer border. Seems fine. Nice touch including it… adds to the crazy good value of this product.
The remote is fine (uses 2x AAA).
They include all the cables you need: VGA, HDMI, power (US style). They all work.
The included manual is clear and covers most of what you might want to know. TMY invites you to contact them by email for support. I haven’t needed to do that yet so I can’t say how responsive they are.
OTHER COMMENTS
Fan noise is comparable to other projectors of this size (in my experience) and so is no cause for special praise or complaint. We’re happy with it.
I can’t comment on the color fidelity etc. because I’m somewhat color blind. All I can say is, you see vibrant colors, there is some image configurability in the menus and nobody had anything bad to say about the colors. I’m sure if you started testing it’s color space you’d find all kinds of limitations but… again… nobody cares.
I’ve asked my teenage son what he thought of the color just now and his answer was “I don’t think any of us have any problem with the projector dad. It’s great.”
TMY *are* incentivizing reviews on Amazon by offering a gift. There is a little insert card in the box along with the manual. It says “Happy with this purchase: 1. Share your experience by leaving an honest Review” and then it shows a picture of five stars. So I guess they are not specifically asking people to leave a five star review to get a reward but they are hinting at it pretty strongly. They also say “Not happy with this purchase: 1. Please give us a chance before you leave a 1-3 star review on Amazon or return the product” and then they ask you to please contact them directly to get a solution/replacement/refund etc. I think it’s kind’a fair enough? Not much different to what hotels do to try getting their online reviews up. I’d decided to leave a review before I saw this card… I mention it in case people reading the reviews would like to know of potential influence.
I have only had the projector a couple of days so I can’t comment on longevity. They do claim to offer a 3 year warranty. I will update my review if it bombs out though.
SUMMARY
It works and it’s mind-bending value. How can you produce something like this profitably for $99 let alone ship it and let Amazon take their cut? Taking the family out for dinner and movie (back when that was allowed) would easily consume that amount of cash. I just hope it lasts. Very happy so far.
We used our projector last night for the first time. It was so much fun. Our grandkids and their mommy and daddy as well as their Uncle live with us. We had the best time watching Snow White. the old disney classic. I wish you could have been here to see the clear picture we had. I am almost 72 I don;t like to set and watch movies however this time I was so excited. I was worried about how the picture would look and I was so surprised it was like being at the Drive Inn , we had popcorn, apple pie and sodas, Plus a number of other things. We even had our own bathroom. WE could have put on Pj’s as a well. The grandkids even got their old kitty cars out and lined them up for fun. Love this. Its must have for every family.
The media could not be loaded. I’m really happy with this projector. I plan on using it mostly for camping and outdoor movies and I think it will be perfect. The picture is sharp and clear even against a grey wall on a semi dark room. The two things that really stand out for this projector versus other similar ones I’ve used though are the responsiveness of the UI and the placement of the IR receiver for the remote. The UI is quick and smooth and the IR is on the back vs the front which doesn’t seem like a big deal but makes it much easier to use.
Great purchase! Bought this projector for outdoor night use during COVID so our kids could have socially distanced, outdoor firepit movie nights with a couple friends and so my wife and I could binge watch our shows with a more drive-in movie feel on our porch every now and then. I didn’t know how often we’d use a projector though, so I didn’t want to spend a ton on one to start and this one is VERY reasonable for what you get. What I love: At 720dpi, it’s certainly hi-def enough (1080 dpi projectors cost more). It’s small, lightweight and has a tri-pod screw on the bottom so I can easily mount it on a $30 tri-pod (not included) and easily move it to different locations, it’s easy to use (easy menu items, easy remote control, manual knobs on the top of projector to adjust focus and keystone/angle image), works great when it’s dusk/dark, USB port so you can easily connect a computer, Amazon firestick, apple TV…anything USB to it, built in speaker which works perfectly if it’s just my wife and I on the porch, but also has an aux cable out jack if in a bigger setting and want to hook up a more powerful speaker, which is what we do when my kids have a few friends out in the yard. This also came with a 100 inch cloth screen, so we use that smaller screen on the porch (see pictures) and I separately bought a slightly larger screen for the kids that we hang under the porch in the yard (see picture). We’ve used the projector at both distances/both screens and it works well. Note: This will not work unless it dark or close to dark, this is not 1080dpi (it will support things that broadcast in 1080dpi and show them at 720-dpi, but it is not 1080). In the end it was perfect for us, because as I suspected, we only used it about 8 times this summer, but at this price, it was sooo worth it, and I plan to use it another half dozen times this fall for night football games/yard tailgating etc.
It’s wonderful!
We had it set up in no time at all.
Totally my fault for not reading the entire description but it does not come with a Lightening HDMI adapter … you must have this to use your cell phone. We got the adapter at Staples for $60… but if you plan ahead you can order on prime for way less expensive. So make sure you order one so you can use it when you arrive.
Arrive in just one day in perfect condition.
We used push pins to hang the screen cloth on our wall and it stays perfect. Picture is clear, machine is exactly as described, volume is very good and we are loving it! Kids are on 3rd Disney+ movie today.
Highly recommend.
This projector worked well for outdoor movies outdoor movies, but the picture isn’t visible unless it is almost completely dark out. I’m happy with the purchase, it provides us with a safe and affordable movie experience, but I wouldn’t recommend this for business or full fledged home theatre use.
Pros:
– Comes with nearly everything you need to setup an outdoor movie, the controlled does not have AAA batteries included and you will need something to play the movie off of (fire stick, Apple TV, DVD player, etc.).
-The picture looked good for our purposes, everyone was impressed and enjoyed the experience.
Cons:
-For the video to be easily visible, it needs to be completely dark outside. For us, this was around 30 minutes after sunset, which can be quite late depending on the time of year and your location.
-Description is a little confusing, but I think it outputs at 720p which is on the lower end of HD.
-Built in speakers didn’t sounds good to me, I would recommend an external speaker (you will need an auxiliary cord).
-The fan was loud, it was not a problem for us but it could be in smaller or quieter spaces.
The media could not be loaded. First off I was skeptical even with the ridiculous amount of great reviews on the product. So from the start it comes in a compact box everything packaged securely and in a sturdy box that should withstand delivery. The installation is straight forward we didn’t even need instructions but they are provided and are quite easy to follow and thorough. It’s basically just like hooking up a TV that is going to play something through the HDMI port just plug in the power and plug in the device you are connecting and boom you’re good to go. The picture will most likely need adjusting but the two adjustment wheels make it easy and you’re ready in seconds to enjoy a movie theater experience. The original speakers are adequate but we hooked up computer speakers through the USB port because we wanted the subwoofer for the bass. Ours has been used for family movie night , for gaming 99% of the time and we have zero complaints. Make the purchase you won’t regret it.
***do not judge the room it belongs to an 8 year old this is actually clean for him 😂
Updated 11/26/21: Updating my review from 3 stars to 5 stars which I should have updated a while ago in all fairness, but didn’t get to it until today. (Keep reading). Something excellent and unexpected happened. At the price point of this projector (which is a great value), I didn’t want to deal with warranties, so we threw out the unit after something went wrong with it (which might have even been caused by us as noted in my original review). I left my original review below for fairness and reference. We did have one great neighborhood movie night with the projector so we did get some value out of it, so I had left it 3 stars because it worked well for a while. I wanted to leave a fair review (unlike others who unreasonably leave 1 star).
Then out of the blue, customer service from this company reaches out to me telling me they read my review, empathizing and apologizing for my inconvenience and poor experience. Then they did the unexpected, offering to send me a brand new unit (of their latest model which includes Wi-Fi) as a replacement for the original unit. Just two days later the new unit arrives. Again I have never experienced great customer service from a company selling A/V technology in this price point; what a pleasant surprise. This is a company that stands behind their product and went above and beyond what I expected, actually reaching out directly to the customer to ensure 100% customer satisfaction. Again this is truly 5 star customer service from a company who stand behind a quality product.
Original review:
Worked ok, but very fragile. Used it for movie night one night with a Roku stick connected to the HDMI pores and it worked as intended. The second time we used it we couldn’t get the auxiliary audio output to work with the amplifier, even after messing with it for 30 minutes. Just then our 4 year old walked by and pulled on the audio cable and I noticed the audio Jack inside the unit was broken. It could have been broken or compromised before hand, but because my 4 year old pulled on the cable and I noticed it broken in the unit, I couldn’t in good faith return it because I couldn’t be sure we didn’t cause the issue. Bottom line is it worked for one movie, but throwing it in the trash after just one week. Ordering another one from another vendor with Bluetooth output so we don’t have to physically connect an audio able to it. It’s an ok unit, just treat it delicately.
The media could not be loaded. I love how this came with a decent quality screen with grommets and command hooks to hang them. I didn’t realize it came with the screw adjust for correcting the angle, perfect for sitting on the picnic table out back yet being able to raise it up a but to project onto the side of the house! It also has a spot for a tripod if you have one.
One REALLY important caveat to note, if you have a 4k fire tv stick set for 4k (or any other higher than 1080p 60hz source) it won’t work AT ALL until you force it down to 1080p 60hz. The manual doesn’t mention this but it does mention setting the fire stick to stereo output nor the Dolby digital stuff, which is a good move. This thing is super bright and quiet. The focus is stiff but that’s a good thing as it won’t vibrate out of focus during the film. The remote does need 2 AAA batteries that it doesn’t come with (as the listing states clearly) but works perfectly once put in.
It was packaged well, I did an unboxing video that I’m attaching here.
Can’t be happier with this choice! I considered a LOT of other options.
Great seller too, bumping the warranty to 3 years by registering with them. Fantastic deal all around.
