Using this with Ubuntu 20.04. Works great.
I had to clone a small Github repo with a couple simple commands. The answer that you’ll find pretty easily, and that followed I followed, had over 20 upvotes.
Yes, installing the Archer T2U Plus into a compatible PC via an available USB port will provide the PC with dual-band AC600 WiFi connectivity capabilities so your PC can connect to nearby WiFi networks.
No this doesn’t have Bluetooth.
Shows up as wlan0 in ifconfig so it’s plug and play > airmon-ng started monitor mode no problem > airodump-ng shows its working > aireplay-ng says injection is working. 20 bucks well spent.
A macOS Catalina (10.15) driver is available for download on our official website.
No monthly payments just a one time fee. But this is only made to connect to your wifi service. If you don’t have a internet service. This will not give you wifi.
you would have to contact technical support at TPLink
I doubt it
Hi! The Archer T2U Plus is designed for installation in a personal computer via an available USB port, and supports Win11/10/8.1/8/7/XP, Mac OS 10.9-10.14.
This is a dual-band adapter, and the 2.4GHz band is typically slower than the 5GHz band. Please ensure you are connecting via 5GHz on your PC using the Archer T2U Plus.
It’s made of hard plastic throughout. The antennae has a matte finish whereas the USB plug part is shiny.
Without a doubt the product has the capability, but as always, using a hard wired internet connection is going to provide you with better results.
Yes your router security protects the WiFi signal, but you still need security on the computer.
If you have mac os 10.9-10.14 then yes.
Haven’t tried it and i doubt it. PS4 is too proprietary with this kind of thing
No, the Archer T2U Plus is designed for use with computers only.

Windows 10 will only recognize this device as a 2.4ghz radio with the default driver. You have to install the driver from the TP Link site in order to connect to 5ghz networks. The driver on the supplied CD will probably work too, but I always check the manufacturer’s site for the latest driver rather than relying on what comes in the box. Other than that, the adapter works very well and is a good value.
I have a TP link access point and got these for the far bedrooms of my house. It did the trick 100%. I was getting about 3 mpbs from a no-name wireless mouse receiver sized adapter, and video would not stream at 1080, which is unacceptable. I wanted to add another WAP, but figured a unit with an antenna should be enough and it totally was. It now maxes out my connection on speedtest, which is 130 mbps, and over my own network its even faster. So really good value for the money and TP link in general is killing it in the consumer market in terms of bang for the buck. I also have their POE switch, works great.
Oh – if you have Windows 10 there’s no drivers to install. Just plug it in and it will auto-install within seconds, at least it did on my machines with 1803/1809. Another bonus versus getting some totally unknown brand.
A good fast solution for connecting to WiFi if your desktop doesn’t have WiFi support and there are no Ethernet cables around. This plug and play WiFi antenna works just like one that plugs into the pcie but the specs may vary. I haven’t had any issues with this and am pleased with this purchase
Highly recommended product it was as easy as plugging into my desktop and playing. I usually stream on games on my desktop and this handles the load very well. In fact I thought this was preforming so well I started preforming speed tests on it. My desktop is in the other room from my router not very far but I got results as if I was wired into the router. Make sure you use the 5ghz band. The results were as fast as being wired into the router only the download/upload speeds were very constant and steady unlike being wired in some how is a bit less steady. I liked this product so much that I will be replacing my wire running through my house with this WiFi adapter.
Excellent product. I recently purchased a Dell desktop computer but do not have internet at home. I bought this, installed the driver (included on the CD that came with it), plugged the hardware into the USB port, and switched on my phone’s WiFi. Just like that, I had a lightning-fast connection and can get more work done at home. Item arrived on time. Highly recommended.
This review is for the “Archer T2U Plus” model. I have Windows 10 Home and followed the instructions carefully.
1) Place the USB Dongle into the port on you computer first. 2) Run the drivers from the CD included.
NOTE: In my case I went directly to their website to download the drivers exe on a separate computer and put them on a USB flash drive to run on the target desktop. I only took this extra step because I’m particular about having the latest drivers.
When you run the drivers with the dongle inserted it will detect it. Go through the prompts and they will auto-install the adapter perfectly.
Have had zero problems with it. Great product at a great price.
Although I considered the much much smaller version, it’s only 2.4GHz. Since I wanted to get my old desktop back online while setting up the new one and didn’t want to run another Ethernet line, this fit the bill.
The signal and speed has been really good so far, although it’s helped by the fact that it’s maybe 10 feet away from the router and in the same room. With easy installation (just plug & play on Windows 10) and faultless performance, this has been exactly what I needed.
Highly recommended if you have a desktop you want to cheaply, quickly, and easily add WiFi.
My laptop is 5 years old. Normally I would get 15 Mbps on my Gigabit (1000 Mbps) home network. Recently my son’s family moved in, and added a lot of devices. My speed went down to POINT 6 upload/download. POINT SIX. LOL. We tried repositioning the router, the computer, the DHCP to “assigned” and nothing worked.
I thought, “maybe the wifi card is just old and getting stepped on by the other devices.” Then I researched external wifi antennae and found this one had the best ratings and, supposedly, easiest setup. So I bought it.
Installation was easy as you just plug it into an available USB port. I have Windows 10 and it did NOT install the drivers automatically nor correctly. I had to use the PROVIDED CD ROM. I understand in the past they did not include the CD, but the new ones have it.
I popped in the CD, installed the driver, and BOOM!!!
100 Mbps IMMEDIATELY.
I bought a second one. I wanted 4, but they only allowed 2 per household because they were running a special. Ultimately, we got four of them and it’s WORTH IT!
TLDR: Will keep you connected to the internet if you have frequent disconnects with Windows 10
So this wireless adapter SAVED my sanity. I got a new computer that came with Windows 10 last year and for 8 months, on and off, W10 would drop my internet connection and try and connect to various neighbors’. My office is upstairs and the wifi thingie is downstairs. Before purchasing this doohickey, I tried every available method I could find on the world wide web and each solution was very temporary. It would take me days to watch a 1 hour show because of the frequent disconnects. Not to mention how difficult it was for me to run my business effectively. Anyhoo, I’ve been using this for 4 months now and sure, I still get disconnected now and then (it’s wifi-it will happen) but a quick troubleshoot to restablish the connection or for the PC to recognize the adapter (again) usually fixes it. I mean seriously, my stress level has gone way down. It was worth the money and it was easy to set up. Just be sure to check it every now and then for heat. The first time I plugged it in, it was plugged into avUSB adapter that was plugged into another adapter that was plugged into the PC and it got HOT to where I yelped when I touched it. I know, I know, probably shouldn’t have done it like that but I have “wall” around my computer I created to keep my cats from chewing on the cords plugged into the back so I wanted the wifi adapter out and in the open. I’ve since taken out one of the adapters and it’s been fine since. Save your sanity and get this adapter if your Windows 10 has been driving you mad with the frequent disconnects..
My signal kept dropping and my upload speed was shit. It was ruining my Broadcasting. My show would freeze 5-10 during a 5 hour session. My cable guy told me that it was not my line, signal or anything on their side. So, the issue had to be my older laptop. My laptop is not 5G. I could not manually put in 5G. They said I need a new laptop. I was very 😢 sad.
I googled every way possible to install or unlock 5G. It was possible, but not on my laptop. The only alternative, was to buy this network adapter. Holy Moly… My speed I’m 2.4G was 60-100 mgbs and 15-20mgbs upload speed. In 5G my avg download speed is 145-290 mgbs and 30-45 mgbs upload speed. My laptop is lightning fast and my broadcast is crystal clear, no lagging, no freezing, no dropping. This $16 device saved me from buying a brand new laptop.
