I just looked at this product at Babies ‘R Us. There were two boxes side by side on the shelf. One contained a Sophie with darker spots while the others had lighter spots. I think one may been an older model but I couldn’t really tell which one was which.

I don’t believe there is any kind of expiration date on a toy. Hopefully you were asking in jest. Grandson loved his giraffe though!

Yes, you can put nail polish (clear) and let it fully dry. Make sure its very thin and just enough to cover the hole. However, if you make sure its dry right after cleaning, don’t worry about the mold.

I figured I’d save what, like 30 cents, by buying the older edition in the red box. It arrived today and it barely squeeks and seems to have a physical squeeker inside.

We originally had the one from the brown box that we bought at target and it worked perfectly, our baby loved it! But we left it out one day and our pup got ahold of it. The poor giraffe passed later that night. The funeral was horrible. We were all in tears.

I went on Amazon to get Sophie the second for the Baby-Saurus, I figured both boxes held the same model, but they don’t. You really want the brown box one. Trust this internet stranger on this. The build quality and shape and material is all the same however, so there’s nothing bad about the red box variant, just doesn’t squeek as well, unfortunately that was a major entertainment factor for our baby so it’s less interesting to the monster now.

I was happy to find out I could verify the product authenticity by scanning an hologram on the back of the packaging.
The product is identical to the one I was playing with as a kid growing up in France 30 years ago. The look, the smell, the squeaky sound, everything is precisely the same!
The toy is still made in the same factory in France as it always was.
The instructions are written on the packaging and available in multiple languages. I noticed the French and English instructions are written without any grammatical errors. This is very rare nowadays since most manufacturers use automatic translations. Thank you Vulli for caring about the details, at least one person appreciates it.
Sophie is such a classic toy with it’s iconic design, it makes both babies and nostalgic parents happy! My son loves it and so do I!

BABY CRACK, this is pure baby crack. I have 4 kids. I used to think it was CRAZY for people to spend $20+ on a giraffe toy yet on my 4th, my 3 month old baby, I decided to splurge and go for it. He’s teething and has no toys so I bought the giraffe and OH MY GOD! He love love loves it, he chews on it, licks it, and won’t let it go. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I love Sofie the giraffe. My first little one loved hers so I had to get one for my newest. When I read the reviews on here I freaked out and ended up doing hours of research because obviously with a teething toy you don’t want it to be made in China with lead paint for your baby to chew off. This one has the correct squeak, the right texture, the right smell, and the special code on the leg. It also has the right paint pattern/colour. So don’t fret mama, this is the real deal, and your little one will love it.

Sophie is absolutely darling, we’ve bought this product many times before for expecting parents and it’s always a hit. Sophie is great for all the reasons stated in other reviews and the product details; but I’d suggest leaving a note on your order asking that the delivery isn’t left somewhere that the packaging might be damaged, especially if you’re planning on gifting it. The box is a delicate matte finish that perfectly suits Sophie’s texture and design, but unfortunately, our box was crammed into our mailbox and there were a few bends, dents and a rip. In no way did this damage the toy, but the box isn’t as presentable as I’d like for a gift, it gives it a slightly second-hand quality which is not preferable when you’re giving something a baby might put in its mouth. Over-all Sophie is a win! But if your deliveries are routinely placed in a small mail box or even dropped over a wall consider leaving a request!!

I was worried after reading some of the reviews about counterfeit Sophies, but this certainly appears to be the real deal. The rubber is soft to the touch with a pleasant smell and easy for tiny hands to grab. It is particularly easy for baby to chew on the tufts on top of Sophie’s head. I didn’t realize prior to purchase that Sophie squeaks if you squeeze it, but it makes my baby smile or laugh to hear the sound. I’m a little concerned about cleaning as I don’t want water to get inside and cause mold, but that hasn’t happened yet. I would buy this again to give as a gift. The packaging is attractive as well.

Im gonna be completely honest. This teether is super pricey and everyone seems to love it and i get why they do. however, it is a complete pain to clean. There is a hole in the middle of the giraffe’s back for the squeak which i think is not necessary and is a detriment to the design. You have to be really careful not to get water inside the hole or mold will grow. So i was really upset when i couldnt wash it with water and soap and had to resort to other cleaning methods and when i did wash it with water, i had to cover the hole with my finger and wash around it. When you are in a hurry or the baby is crying you need to do things quick. so this is a pain. but my baby loved and used this teether so much and its very durable. So just keep that in mind if you get it.

I love Sophie as a baby gift and I’ve given her many times to friends. Every kid loves this teether and it seems to be easier for them to hold and manipulate in little fingers that aren’t dextrous enough to hold smaller toys yet. And even as the kids age and stop teething, they grow attached to the look of this toy. My 4 year old nephew still loves his Sophie giraffe. That being said – whatever seller Amazon is working with is clearly sending some that have been purchased, returned and sent back out. I received a Sophie that is floating around in the box without anything tethering her inside (it’s obvious it’s been opened before). The box is crushed in one spot and torn where the cardboard opens. This really sucks as this is a gift again and it looks used, even if it’s not.

Ok I’ll admit it…I thought people were CRAZY to buy this teether. How could Sophie possibly be worth more than some of the jeans this mama buys herself? Well for whatever reason it’s like babies are drawn to it! My son who has really bad oral aversion from reflux, silent Aspiration and NG/NJ feeding tubes actually loves chomping on her feet and head! She’s super cute and easy for little fingers to hold.

Dog families- like most baby toys, it squeaks (for whatever reason)! My dog is just as interested and OBSESSED with trying to chew on poor Sophie.

My grandaughters both had Sophie’s as infants & loved them so when my grandson was born I bought a Sophie for him, too. Like my grandaughters, he loves it. There is something about this toy that babies seem to love! I will add that I had to return my first order. The box was torn & appeared to have been opened previous. I am disappointed that Amazon would even send anything in that condition. The next one I received was in a new box that had not been opened.
