Info About Wireless USB WiFi Adapter for PC: 1300Mbps WiFi USB, 802.11AC WiFi Adapter for Desktop PC, Dual Band WiFi Dongle Wireless Adapter for WIN7 8 10 XP Vista MAC Linux, USB Computer Network Adapters (Reviews From Amazon)
In my day job, I’m an IT Guy, network admin, user support, the whole deal. I’ve been doing it for decades. So like the painter who’s house always needs a fresh coat, or the carpenter who needs a new roof, the thing I want to do least in life when I’m home from work is to deal with my own PC/wireless network setup. I tend to run some older desktop units for my own and family use, which work just fine for our needs. But they don’t have built in wireless cards. The CPU’s run Win-10, but are over 10 years old.
I needed a new USB wireless adapter and surfed on Amazon for the best, most economical unit for our own limited needs. I settled on this one… but I messed up and ordered two by mistake. Oops.
Rather then cancel and start over, I decided to ride it out and see how they worked first.
They arrived quickly. I plugged one in to my USB slot, entered the SSID for me wireless network, and it worked instantly. Plug and Play! Perfect! No driver downloads, no configs to wrestle with, no swearing….
Sweet.
And it’s fast. Much faster than my previously wireless adapter. So I think I’ll keep the 2nd one as a spare. It’ll be a simple, fast, efficient replacement/install if I ever need it. And it’s not all that expensive to boot.
I was not surprised that this speeded up my wifi internet OOKLA speed test.
After all my router has a very similar rotating antenna that spins on 2 axis, exactly like this USB adaptor.
I already knew that changing the antenna arms position on the router would speed or slow down connection OOKLA speed when using my old USB adapter. But I had no way to also adjust the antenna arms on it. So I bought this because it does.
And indeed it speeds up the speed test numbers. I switch back and forth between this USB adaptor and the old one (which had no movable antenna arms) and always this one is very much faster. Consistently about 70% faster. Every single time I tested them.
My computer is on the top floor of our house, the router is on the bottom floor.
===========
Get a USB adapter like this with movable antenna arms.
Get a router that has movable antenna arms.
Play with the arms adjustment on both watching the speed readouts at OOKLA.
Soon you will know, and be all set.

By the way the computer is in a closet that has a clothes rod up high. I got a plastic (non metal) hangar that has a hook that swivels. Attached this adapter with 2 clothes pins. I can also swing the adapter by moving the hangar swivel and aim it at the router.
Everybody needs to find a way to mount a little lightweight USB dongle like this one, where it stays put when you get the arms where you want them. Velcro is another good solution to think about.
5 stars!
I had an old wifi dongle from Asus, It was working fine until it started dropping the signal as of late. I started running speed tests with it, and it was not even giving me a fraction of the speed. I decided that it was time to update the adapter.
I started doing my research online for dual-channel adapters to get the most out of my internet speed. I happened upon this delightful little adapter. I did not see a brand on it and was skeptical. Nonetheless, I read some of the reviews on the product and noticed that it was getting rave reviews.
from my past experiences, good reviews from a non-branded item ended up being delightful, and based on that, I decided to take the plunge. I have to say, I am not disappointed with my decision. Literally, just plugged it in and I was getting instantaneous fast internet speeds I will definitely recommend this item and will purchase it for future wifi needs.
I was not sure about buying a non-brand name USB adapter because I wasn’t sure it would work properly. I was really surprised when I opened the box, plugged the USB adapter into a USB 3.0 slot and it worked perfectly without installing any device drivers. I ran a Google speed test, and the download speed was over 100 MB. The entire configuration required less than a minute and then I was on the internet browsing. I would recommend this to anyone who needs an inexpensive Wi-Fi solution without any configuration hassle.
I bought this wifi adapter to improve the wireless connection speed of my desktop located in the basement of my house. At first, I was hesitant to make an order, thinking this small device will do nothing but after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. I installed the driver, plugged the device in the back of my desktop tower and restarted the machine as directed. After, went directly to speed test website to test the new wireless connection speed I am getting, very pleased to see the strong signal I was getting. It` all worth it.
This receiver is very efficient, I loaded the software included in the box, plugged in the receiver, and in a nano second the device started receiving the internet signal, the websites loaded fast and completely, no mess-ups … I restarted, and the receiver came up after a second. what a relief to have a good receiver !!!
I have an older Win 10 PC that came with what was probably a good WiFi adapter for the time, but now is older technology. I was not happy with my download speed on this computer as compared with my other ones, so I decided to give this USB WiFi adapter a try.
It arrived very quickly and I was anxious to try it. When I opened the package I was concerned that since it contained a CD with a driver that it was not going to be plug-and-play, but it was. All I had to do was to plug it into a USB port and Windows automatically found and installed the driver. It was ready to use in seconds.
I ran Speedtest and did a screen capture of the speeds it reported.
I disabled the old adapter in Control Panel and enabled the new one and connected it to the same WiFi I have been using all along.
I then ran Speedtest again, and my download speed almost doubled! That was exactly what I wanted it to do.
I am installing some hardware inside a wooden and stucco monolith structure that my church uses for a roadside sign. Because it is covered with stucco, that means it’s also covered with metal lathe. One would think that the metal lathe would make the whole thing act something like a Faraday Cage, making it tough to exchange radio signals from inside. Not so!
The router is located around 80 feet from the monolith, and inside another building that doesn’t propagate radio very well. Nevertheless, using this adapter, I got a good, strong signal – far better than I was expecting.
The tests I’ve done so far have been limited to plugging it into a BeagleBone Black single-board computer (similar to a Raspberry Pi). It didn’t need any additional drivers, or even the drivers on the CD it came with. It was a great plug-and-play experience.
I have a mini PC that I just use to work from home. The WiFi router is in the guest room literally feet away from the PC but I was only managing to get “weak” signal on my device.
The price point on this was perfect, so I decided to give it a shot. I simply plugged it in, downloaded the driver needed and changed the setting to use this receiver.
I now get “Excellent” signal strength and speeds that take advantage of the gig fiber internet.
I’m honestly impressed, I was expecting a minimal bump in signal and speed at best.
Well worth the little money spent.
I go on extended remote assignments for work and frequently move to new apartments. My new apartment uses ATT for high speed internet and the router jack is far away in the laundry room. My laptop is 7 years old, but does have AC. I was able to connect at high speed 5GHz (300 mbps) but after extended use I would drop down to 2.4 GHz (12 mbps). It happened constantly. I figured my old laptop’s internal WiFi just did not have the strength needed to communicate with the router, so I decided to give this a go. BOY DID IT WORK! I am now steadily connected at 5 GHz (866 mbps) and full signal strength (checked on both the laptop and the router). For MY problem, this little WiFi adapter did the trick. Highly recommend.
