The OnePlus 12 and Samsung S24 Ultra are two strong players in the constantly changing smartphone market. Both have a wide range of cutting-edge features that are meant to make the user experience better. As always, the OnePlus 12 stays true to the brand’s values of innovation and cost, giving you the best value without any sacrifices. The Samsung S24 Ultra, on the other hand, stands out because it focuses on high-tech photography features and the smooth merging of new technologies.

Both devices are huge steps forward in terms of communication and work. Features like Live Translate² and Note Assist³ have changed the way people use their smartphones. While the OnePlus 12 is great at providing a simple, user-friendly experience that focuses on efficiency, the Samsung S24 Ultra takes photos to a whole new level with Nightography and Generative EditTM, which open up a world of creative possibilities that have never been seen before. As people look at their options, the OnePlus 12 and Samsung S24 Ultra both stand out as strong contenders. Each one meets a different set of needs and wants in the constantly evolving world of mobile technology.

Oneplus 12 vs Samsung S24 Ultra: Design

OnePlus 12 design. It’s underestimated and deserves more attention because it’s stunning. It looks good out of my pockets due to the phone’s round camera hump, metal trim sides, and textured shell. Smudges rarely stick to the OnePlus 12’s textured exterior, and its thinner size makes it simpler to hold with one hand than the Galaxy S24 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro Max. Though the quiet switch is moved to the left, the OnePlus 12’s design language and appearance remain the same.

OnePlus generously includes an IR blaster on the top of the phone, making it the perfect universal remote for my favourite home appliances. Due to its weight, the OnePlus 12 feels more top-heavy than its predecessor, which is my main complaint. It weighs half an ounce more than OnePlus 11. Maybe that’s not a dealbreaker, but I’m more careful with the phone because dropping it would be awkward.

The new flagship phone king. Joking aside, the Galaxy S24 Ultra now has a titanium frame like Apple’s Pro iPhones. The soft matte finish is clean and attractive. We don’t gain much weight savings when titanium replaces aluminium. (Unlike the iPhone 15 Pro, which replaced a hefty stainless steel frame). Samsung fully removed screen curvature. As consumers prefer flat displays, the soft Edge style has becoming less popular. Samsung has been cooperating, carefully moving the curve to the screen’s edge until it disappears. It gets favourable feedback each year, since smartphone users are over the “futuristic” look of curved glass screens.

Oneplus 12 vs Samsung S24 Ultra: Display

OnePlus claims the OnePlus 12’s 6.82-inch 2K ProXDR display can reach an unprecedented 4,500 nits. According to my experience with the OnePlus 12, the ProXDR provides strong brightness in direct sunshine, allowing me to see everything well. I doubt the phone will achieve 4,500 nits, but I’ll be happy if it can beat the OnePlus 11’s 1,300 nits. With a 120Hz display refresh rate, the OnePlus 12 is good for action-packed games.

The most difficult games look fluid because everything flows nicely. As a top smartphone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a great display. Large, bright, and colourful, especially with Vivid colour tone. This display has many adjustable brightness and colour tones that measure ambient illumination and optimise the display. In bright outside light, the display may reach 2,600 nits, which isn’t the brightest but is enough.

Extra Dim may be more intriguing. Even at 1 nit, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has good colour fidelity. Maybe you could check your messages in a movie theatre, but then you’d be an extra dim Ultra jerk.

Oneplus 12 vs Samsung S24 Ultra: Performance

I found the OnePlus 12 to be exceptional in every task. Its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset virtually equals the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which outperformed the iPhone 15 Pro. Because the Galaxy is overclocked, the OnePlus 12 is slower, but you won’t notice unless you care about benchmark numbers. The OnePlus 12 is fast in real-world gaming, photo editing, and interface navigation.

Because they demand extra processing or cloud server communication, AI functions slow the Galaxy S24 Ultra. S24 Ultra use is slower because you’re always waiting for the phone to perform anything new. OnePlus 12 lacks new features. Photos lacks Circle to Search and Magic Editor. I enjoy the performance boost since I don’t miss those functions.

Since Apple began producing its own Bionic chipset for the iPhone, no Android phone has outperformed Apple’s greatest iPhone. Last is Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Ultra is speedier than the iPhone 15 Pro Max in many areas. You may not notice the performance benefits, but I must credit them. Qualcomm and Samsung beat Apple’s silicon for the first time in years. What does that mean practically? You can accomplish everything on your smartphone faster now. Call of Duty Mobile and Genshin Impact may be played at high settings with smooth framerates and no lag.

You may kill noobs on Pixels and Motorola phones in your multiplayer arena by pairing your game with an Xbox or Playstation controller via Bluetooth. A phone that responds rapidly to commands and movements is great for multiplayer games. Is the Galaxy S24 Ultra a gaming phone? You better believe it. I compared the S24 Ultra to the gaming-focused Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro. The S24 Ultra outperformed the ROG Phone 8 in every category, including game framerate.

Performance improvements are felt even if you don’t play. On my Galaxy S24 Ultra, I can easily tweak adjustment sliders in Adobe Lightroom and watch my shot alter in real time. In side-by-side tests utilising Adobe clever masking, the Galaxy S24 Ultra found and selected my foreground topic in seconds faster than my Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Oneplus 12 vs Samsung S24 Ultra: Camera

Oneplus 12 vs Samsung S24 Ultra

The OnePlus 12 was designed to take great images, especially of people. If you want precise colour and detail, seek elsewhere. OnePlus and Hasselblad’s fourth-generation alliance produces unique, if not desirable, smartphone camera photographs. OnePlus claims that Hasselblad has optimised its camera processing to mimic traditional portrait lenses without creating them.

I’ve never shot with a Hasselblad camera, but the OnePlus held its own in my showdown against the top camera phones, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and in selfies and portraits, it performed better. A good 12-megapixel camera for taking selfies is located at the top of the screen, in addition to the four cameras that are located on the back of the phone.

The S23 Ultra is identical to four of the cameras, including the primary camera with 200 megapixels, the ultrawide camera with 12 megapixels, and the telephoto camera with 10 megapixels that produces equally amazing results. The 10MP 10x telephoto camera that was included in the S24 Ultra has been replaced with a 50MP 5x telephoto camera included in the S24 Ultra.

This camera is also capable of performing an in-sensor zoom for 10x magnification. In a side-by-side comparison, it is quite difficult to detect the difference between the images taken with the S24 Ultra at 10x zoom and those taken with its predecessor. The S24 Ultra’s arsenal now includes even another instrument, which is another 5x magnification.

Oneplus 12 vs Samsung S24 Ultra: Battery and Charging

As expected, the OnePlus 12 has a longer battery life than the Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max. OnePlus 12 worked well for two days of routine use without much camera time. OnePlus lasted all day and night despite heavy use, gaming, and photoshooting. OnePlus 12’s 5,400 mAh battery has two cells. This technology enables OnePlus charge both batteries at once, doubling speed.

OnePlus can be fully charged in just 30 minutes with the bundled 80W charger. In half an hour, an iPhone 15 Pro Max charges to 40% and a Galaxy S24 Ultra to 70%. OnePlus sent me a 50W wireless charger for the OnePlus 12. My phone charged 27% in 15 minutes, more than the iPhone 15 Pro Max can charge on a cable charger. OnePlus 12 wireless charging is faster than most wired competitors.

In our lab tests, where we browse the web on 5G until the battery dies, the Galaxy S24 Ultra lasted a huge 16 hours and 45 minutes in its usual Adaptive display mode. That’s longer than the 14 hours and 2 minutes that the iPhone 15 Pro Max lasted in our tests. Also, it lasts longer than the Galaxy S23 Ultra by more than two hours, and a lot of other Android phones as well. To get more battery life from your phone, you’d have to buy a strict game phone with a huge battery, like the Red Magic 9 Pro with its 6,500mAh cell.

Samsung didn’t make the battery bigger than last year’s Ultra. Instead, it made the Galaxy S24 Ultra better at managing power, which means it saves more juice. The adjustable screen settings can be too harsh, but you can turn them off if you always need the screen to be bright. You can also change things like the screen size and the speed of the processor to save even more power.

Which is better?

The two clear winners in this comparison are the OnePlus 12, which has a lower price and a battery that lasts longer and charges faster. When compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, it falls short in photography, which Samsung has always done very well, and software and features, which Samsung has put more emphasis on with the Galaxy S24 line.

Based on points alone, the OnePlus 12 looks much better, which may be all some users need to know. But right now, if you want the best Android phone, you might have to accept that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the only choice, even at that price.
